Default Fuel pump ?

I'm looking for an in-tank pump that flows enough for my setup, output pressure does not matter as my regulator and the rest of my fuel system is capiable of regulating an EFI pump down to low psi without effecting flow. What size pump do I need 255lph? More? is there a in-tank low pressure, high volume pump cause I cant find one like that.

Is there some setup that I can put in place of the in-tank pump that will serve as a pick-up and allow me to use an external pump? Is the sock on the end of the pump always submerged and if I replaced the factory pump with some contraption that left the sock in place would an external pump be able to pick up fuel that way or is the only way to use a external pump to sump the tank?

What is your setup? In your sig? I would convert to a regular low pressure pump externally mounted if you are carbed. That is how i set up all F bodys that have been converted. Just replace the in tank pump with a line that will go as far as the stock setup did so it can still pick up fuel. My fuel level gauge still works fine, i clipped the power line out and ran it to the pump.

It works verry well but the usual headache folks complain about is the labor to do it. You have to lower the rearend and cut the muffler off(if it goes over the rear axle). I have done it so many times it is no big deal. If you want to see the mounting location i used for the fuel pump, let me know and ill take a pic for you.

Yeah that would be great if you have time to snap a few pics. Will a 150GPH pump be sufficant? I was planning on mounting it on the firewall, is it a problem to have it all the way up there or does it need to be back near the tank? I wasnt aware the rear needed to be dropped to get the tank down, AllData didnt mention that but I does call for 5 hours to do, does it need to come all the way out or just drop down a bit? Thanks again.

OK, watch the brake line, you will need to remove the panhard bar, then disconnect the shocks and allow the rearend to lower as far as it can, watch the brake line though. Then when you have the heat shielding and muffler out of the way and the tank straps are removed as well as the lines disconnected, pull the tank out and spin it towards the back of the car, it will come out easily, other retards like to try and remove it straight out which:

1) Has to have the rearend down olmost all the way

2) Bends the filler neck.

I will have some pics up in a bit, i have the holley blue, 110 GPH, works fine, i have a holley black that is 140 GPH free flow that is for the bigger motor but the 110 will be fine for you.
