Default got a problem with a 350!!!

my friend has a 1970 chevelle. the timing was really bad out of whack on it. we actually had to take the distributer out of the car and put it back in straight, we get it lined out and start it and the car when it is in gear idle perfect, but when the car is in park it idles extremely fast. i thought it was a vacuum leak somewhere but we checked and checked and couldnt find one. does anyone have any suggestions at all it would be a major help.

thanks, scott

Well, I am sure that if the timing was that far off, you needed to compensate for a bad idle by turning up the idle screw on the carb. So, back the idle screw down and see what happens.

yea the idle screw is backed out all the way and the thing still sounds like it's about to launch into outerspace, lol.

vacumm or mech. secondaries? sounds like the back barrels are cracked or stuck open or a vacumm line is cracked or pulled loose.
