i did a search and nothing really matched my car as most questions were 98 and under, but anyway i have a 2001 Trans Am WS6, 1 3/4 LTs, 3" ORY, Hooker CB, 80mm BBk TB, Descreened Maf, Ls6 intake, and limo tinted back window. my front windows are factory tint. I will be moving to Mathews County, South charlotte. just wondering if i would pass or not. im not sure on the tint laws and what not. any tips or advice appreciated

35% tint is what I believe is legal. As for the rear on a car I am not sure about. Emissions will be an issue. Cats required unless you can find someone. Check engine light on? If so get the problem repaired or deleted. 96 and newer have OBDII scan and visual. Keep in mind, I don't do inspections so all the above I believe is the way it goes here.

As you sit right now, you will not pass the visual inspection. Assuming your SES light is not on. Unless you know someone, you'll need to reinstall emissions equipment and remove the tint. 35% is the limit, but they allow for -3% so technically 32% will get your through.

They are supposed to look at the car. Some do, some don't. If the codes are off most probably wouldn't even know. The tint is likely going to give you the most trouble. It's supposed to be 32% or less all the way around on cars.
Just find a cool place or make a friend and you'll be good.

So if ur SES light is on it won't pass? What about the ABS light? I'm doing a turbo car and gonna eliminate the abs. I hope ta have it done sometime in the next few months. What all does the SES light tell ya? Engine codes or what? It's been awhile since i've messed with the LS cars. Don't mean ta jack ur thread, just curious about the same stuff. Thanks

Even if the SES light isn't on but it has thrown a code, it won't pass. Some codes don't trigger a light on the first offense.
I don't know for sure if the ABS needs to work or not, since it is a saftely inspection as well as emissions, but you can just cover that light up and they don't check for it to work like the SES light.

I live in Denton, (Davidson County). So the ABS & SES light will be a problem? Forgive me for being dumb at the moment, but isn't there an Service Engine light & an SES light? Or is the SES light the Service Engine light?

Just find a hole in the wall place... they are usually pretty cool and with the state of the economy they just want your business so as long as your SES light isn’t on they will pass ya

You shouldn't have a problem getting it inspected without cats unless they lift it up. I took mine back in the fall and they just checked window tint and hooked it up to the computer. As long as the check engine light is not on and they don't lift it then they don't have a reason to suspect anything.
