Moving to Tenn. Hey Guys,
Moving from Richmond, Va to the Nashville area and need some info. I was happy to find that Tenn does not have a state inspection, but then saw that the county we were planning on moving to (Sumner) has mandatory emmissions testing. The Camaro has LT's straight thru an x pipe/tru dual setup and has no chance in passing. Any tips or tricks anyone knows to get by? I guess we could look at moving to a different county
but we like the communities around the lake up there. Any help is greatly appreciated.

All my stuff passes with no problem. If you have no codes showing, you will be fine. I live in Wilson County, next to Sumner. My buddy went through last week with LT/TD X setup. He failed at one location but went to another and passed. All they do is slide a mirror under the car and glance..if they even do that..and plug it in the OBD port. no sniffer test for anything obd2 (96-up)
Just moved away from TN about 3 years ago. Some inspection stations are a bit stricter, but it's usually a function on the experience of the inspector. Some run mirrors to actually look for cats, others just run mirrors to make it look like they are checking and rely solely on the sniffer test. The best bet is to move to a county without a sniffer test. I lived in Nashville; Davidson Co. but registered my car in Montgomery Co, granny lived there. It's up on the Kentucky Tennesse border, and they had no emissions. I had no cats, no chance in passing. Good luck.
