Default Fbody Gathering

I didn't go this year and they may have done it but I think it would be pretty sweet if the fbody gathering had a day at the strip, maybe have the whole event at commerce cause of the dragstrip. Plus more room and parking. There is also plenty of hotels/motels there. I just thought of it the other day, just my .02. What do you think?

I think part of the appeal of the F-Body Gathering is that it's one of the few events that isn't centered on drag racing.

I like to do both....but the big appeal to me is that it's a show I can actually relax at. I mean sure everyone is always cleaning on their cars...but by the afternoon on Saturday the judging is done and you can just kick back and relax.

GAFBA has something like this twice a year at Silver Dollar Raceway. Even though it's geared towards local F-bodies, it's close to what you're talking about.

Start getting the word out on the next one and we might have a better turnout.

I think that the focus of the folks who put together the G7, G8, & G9 ect. is to have a car show type atmosphere without any racing involved... every other event seems to directly attached to the track..it is just a more relaxed and laid back event...the event is well thought out and exicuted as it is..with fun events that do not require the race track...plus there was considerable consumption of adult beverages which we all know is not something that needs to be mixed with tracking a car.. ...we did have the tennis shoe drags in the parking lot with smokey burnouts ... ... I think that it would be pretty hard to improve on the Gathering...I have had a great time at the ones that I have attended.. ..it gives you a chance to meet a lot of new friends with the ample time you spend with fellow F Body folks over the course of the weekend.

You've got a point but how about this. You stated the event is laid back and well planned, if im not mistaken at G8, weren't people street racing and someone was killed.

I didn't post this to **** people off, I just thought of it the other day and thought I would share my ideas. Where the gathering is probably perfect, I just thought commerce would be a good place too.

I was thinking the exact same thing a few days ago. It would be pretty cool, but that is a LONG drive from the hotel all the way to commerce lol.

that was G7. i've been the last two years and i know they are more like a party, who can stay drunk all weekend long.

but like stated before GAFBA does have a shootout twice a year aimed at locals to come out and race

The event has been well planned the unfortunate incident happened at the G7...street racing is always a risky proposition at best..you can have an event but you can't baby sit everyone who attends..

There were a number of sober folks that attended the Gathering..nobody says you have to consume mass quantities all weekend long...

I just posted it up to see what people thought, not for people to take to take things serious.
