Default What Year LQ9!!!!!!

Does it matter what year LQ9 you get or are there certain years that are the better?

the longblock is exactly the same on all of them

No they are not. The earlier ones have the little extension on the crank hub, or the later ones, I can't remember, but if you get the one with the extension it creates problems. If you get one get the later year ones.

that longer crank issue is only on 6.0Ls that came equipped in 4L80E vehicles (HD trucks) in 99 and 00. after those years they used a spacer instead of a crank that was actually longer. there were no HD trucks in those years with an LQ9, only LQ4. the OP said he was looking for LQ9s, hence why i said the longblock is the same on all of them, cuz it is.

If he can't tell the difference when he get's a 6.0 then he needs to double check. Anyway just double check when buying your 6.0 motor.

if you don't know the person your buying it from very well i'd definately double check before you buy it just to verify its an LQ9 even if it has the right crank
