Cool car UK-z28. I assume it is a LT1 hardtop and not the rarer LT4 hardtop?

I've a 1997 30th Anniv SS. 6sp manual and white leather interior (starting to look a bit the worse for wear).

Camaros are fairly rare in the UK. I like to think (without any evidence) that I have the only 30th Anniv SS on this side of the atlantic...
beautiful car was this car originally from the uk that car is rare in the states let alone the uk does it have any factory euro options side markers on the fender etc..

My Car was a US car imported. the LT1 engined Camaro was never imported into the UK (althougth the later LS1 was in limited numbers). I can't say whether there were imports into other European countries.

Default 1997 Hendrick Camaro

Hey y'all, i'm new to this site and this is my first post.
I think i own car # 38 or 39. My 1997 SS Hendrick Camaro is Silver with the Black heritage stripes, dual dual exhaust, torsen diff, level 2 suspension, firehawk wheels, hurst short throw, badges, floor mats, ect..
Found it on the the Auto Trader website when it first went online. It was love at first sight!! I bought it slightly used with 19,173m on the clock back in 1999 from an old man in his mid 70's from Raliegh North Carolina. He said he got a speeding ticket leaving the dealership parking lot. I immediately had it shipped out to me here in SF California.
I was told only 61 Hendricks built including the lt4's, not all of them were SS's so i'm not sure why someone mentioned they owned car number 71. I was also told from another source that only 202 silver SS cars were built in 1997 including the HMS editions. I don't know if that includes hard tops. Mines a T-top like most.
My father owns a silver 1997 SS T-top with all the same options except the Hendrick pretty stuff. His car was supposed to be mine. I ordered it from Courtesy Chevrolet back in 1997 but unfortunately i totaled my current ride at the time and my insurance skyrocketed so he wound up with the car. He wouldn't even let me drive it!! I don't blame him.
I just wanted to let you all know that this car has survived and it is still in existence.. or shall i say.. it is in Mint condition! I have not driven it in the past 2 1/2 years due to the fact that i met my fiance in this car.. probaly would've never met her without the car..? I asked her to marry me in this car back in early 2003.. and she was the last one to ride in this car before she was killed by a drunk driver in a head on collision driving her new piece of **** VW GTi. We were together for 7 years and we had just saved up enough money to have a beautiful wedding!
So yea.. the car is not for sale! Dig
I'll upload pic's if anyone is interested including a list of the mods. And any info pertaining to my car would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys

Mattafakt

Wow, sad story about your fiance', so sorry for your loss. TOTALLY understand your attachement to your SS.

CompNine's database indicates a total of 317 SS coupes (TT/HT combined) in 13U Silver in '97 (213 M6, 104 A4). 41 silver SS 'verts were made as well.

Of those 317 silver SS coupes, 249 were TTs, 68 HTs.

YES......................HIS does say 16" wheels just like mine below:

All convertibles were modified by SLP with 16" wheels ONLY because SLP was concerned that the ride would be too harsh with the shorter sidewall of the 17" wheels because of the lack of rigidity due to the loss of the support of a solid top and the support that it would provide therefore only the hardtop and T-top cars came out with 17" wheels.

I upgraded mine to the 17" wheels because I liked the look of the 17" wheels better than the 16" wheels. I still have the 16" wheels downstairs in my basement in the boxes that SLP shipped the 17" wheels to me in.

Here is my car again with the 17" wheels on it:

I also lowered my car with GMMG/Eibach lowering springs so combined with the 17" wheels with the shorter sidewall, my car does ride a little on the "harsh" side however, I certainly like the appearance much better. The 17" wheels fill up the wheel wells much better particularily with the car being lowered.

Does anyone have the issue of Camaro Enthusiast that documents in detail the production for these 30th Anniversary Camaros? I know they did it, as I have the issue documenting the '93 Indy Pace Cars right down to what each VIN # is, it's US production sequence #, it's combined US/Canada production sequence #, and even whether the car went straight to a dealership or if it went to (for example) the Detroit Free Press for them to drive and test.

If somebody could dig through their closet, they might find the ~'98 issue that answers the questions everybody has been wanting answered for years.

I didn't realize there were only 213 M6 Sebring Silver SS coupes. I wonder how further it would break down to seperate the M6 hardtops from the t-tops?? Is there a source for replacement seat covers with the 30th "stamped" into the seatbacks?

Only SLP has that info. I'm sure you'd have to provide your VIN# to get it.
