What are the top 10 Firebird models for collectablility and value???
Including all years Firebirds and T/As!

If you follow what these cars sell for, the list would look like this;

1. 69 Trans Am convertible (like 1 of 11 or something, can't remember)
2. 73-74 SD455
3. 69 Trans Am
4. 67-68 Royal Bobcat Firebird
5. 70-73 Trans Am
6. 77-81 Mecham "Macho" Trans Am
7. 91-92 Firehawk
8. 89 Turbo TA indy pace car (low mileage)
9. 01-02 GMMG Blackbird & Year One Formula
10. 77-79 SE "Bandit" Trans Am

Honestly, I don't see how a CETA really compares to some of the other possibilities. Hell even my car is more rare and collectible than a Ceta (which defeats the whole point of the CETA imo-they shouldn't have produced so many)> don't get me wrong , I'm sure they will be worth something a little extra someday, and they are very nice and worth collecting, just not as much as say a Blackbird etc. Or as you said, 92 firehawk.

I'd have a hard time believing the bolded ones sell higher than any year Hurst/LPE Firebird. Even the 3rd-gen 'Hawks were more plentiful than the LPE cars. But I'd agree the '69 T/As and SDs are way up there.

There were less 30ths than CETA. I believe the 30ths will be worth more in the long run given the heritage in styling linked to the first,second and third generations. CETA's are nice, but broke from the anniversary tradition and were largely a repeat of the 30th with different colors. I also believe the 30ths will appreciate higher than the 25ths because the LS1- many Pontiac guys never got over the Lt1's Chevy roots, but the LS1 was a clean start and is of course faster. Both are nice cars though. Around 1600 built, and yes I'm biased because I own one .

Agreed that 69 TA and the SDs should top the list. Late 70s bandits are an American icon and are only depressed in value due to the shear number built, but will appreciate rapidly when the car market takes off again.

It is neat to look back at all the special editions that came out in the 4 gens from Harley to Hurst, but many are so low production that its hard to include them in a list like this.

Interesting thread for conversation though.

a lot of interesting answers. i would have to put the 69 t/a @ the top. i was also always partial to the 73-75 s.d., as far as the bandits i never liked the 79's. i guess because that's when pontiac started putting olds motors & whatever else they could get. what's everybody opion on the mid 80's turbo pace car. i think it was like an 84-86 some where in that neighbor hood. i own a c.e.t.a i agree that they made to many. i would love to come across a 30th ann.

Probably just a slip of the finger, but SDs were '73-'74 only. Only one 455 in '75-'76 and it was the run-of-the-mill 455 like you'd find under the hood of a Safari wagon (although Pontiac marketing insisted on "HO" decals on the '75 scoop, it was the same engine used in '76).

The '89 Turbo T/A (aka 20th anniversary T/A) would, IMO, be the most desired of all 3rd-gens, and would be the only one I'd consider owning. I also agree on the 30ths being more desireable than the CETAs. If anyone remembers the Firebird dealer brochure used in '98-'99, it had a picture of a '69 T/A that had to be, without a doubt, the inspiration for the 30th.

1) 1969 Trans Am Convertible (only 8 built 4 auto's and 4 4speeds)
2) 1973 Formula SD 455 (only 43 built)
3) 1970 Trans Am Ram Air IV (only 88 built 25 of which are Lucerne Blue)
4) 1973 Trans Am SD455 (only 252 built)
5) 1969 Trans Am 303's (only 17 Built for the SCCA race series all pre production)
6) 1968 Firebird 400 Ram Air II (roughly 200 built starting may of `68)
7) 1979 Formula 400 4spd (W72 just over 800 cars built)
8) 1979 Trans Am 400 4spd (w72 roughly 8000 cars built out of a 117,000 run)
9) 1989 Turbo Trans Am
10) 1991-92 Firehawks
