So there is really no difference between the WS6 and the FireHawk besides looks and maybe gears.
I thought for the price differece it was a big differece in parts.
But I guess your paying for the name or options

You were basically paying for rarity. In 2002, there were 1501 Firehawks made. There were more than that made in black ws6's alone for 2002, not including all the other color ws6's out there. In previous years, I think they made at most 700 Firehawks, if not less.

A Firehawk is a lot rarer, and the thought is they'll hold their value better. That is yet to be seen though.

I'm lookin to get a 2001-2002 WS6 the highest i'll spend is $20,000.
Can you find a Firehawk thats pretty good in miles for that price?
Or are they running alittle higher than that?

Maybe..but you'd really have to do some searching, just cause finding a Firehawk can sometime be difficult. Just to give you an example...we paid $24,999 for our Firehawk last year. It was a 2002 with 700 miles on it when we bought it. Book value was higher than that though..closer to $29K I think. If we were to sell it now, it'd sell/trade-in at $17K-$19K...mostly cause it's now got 26K miles. It's also a Formiula Firehawk...so it's going to cost less than a Trans Am Firehawk. They're also a lot harder to find than a TA Firehawk. My WS6 (which is also a 2002) would trade-in/sell for about $17k-$19K also...again..cause it's got 48K miles.

Depending on the mileage, a WS6 in that price range is doable. A Firehawk is too, again, depending on mileage, but because there are less of them, it's going to be harder to find.

Looks and OPTIONS yes, gears no. All LS1 Firebirds wheather they were WS6's or regular T/A or Formulas that were ordered as Autos (A4's) came w/3:23's. All that were ordered as 6-speeds (m6's) came w/3:42's. WS6's, Firehawks, and regular birds wheather T/A or Formula share identical drivetrains an LS1 350 coupled to a M6 or A4 tranny. As far as looks goes? That's in the eye of the beholder. The Firehawks have a little more than looks over the WS6's which is mainly options and rarity. Firehawks came stock w/3" intermediate exhaust w/dual-dual tips. WS6's on the other hand came w/2.5" intermediate exhaust w/single-single exhaust with the exception of the '98 WS6 which had single left side exhaust. Firehawks also came with a slightly different designed 5-spoke wheel which you could order in 2 different finishes: Stock flat aluminum gray, or Option triple-chrome plated (real chrome) not a high polished aluminum like WS6's. Now to the hoods. Firhawk hoods are functional Ram-Airs as well as the heat-extractors (located on top corners of the hood) just a different design. Hawk hoods are more of a composite 1-piece that is designed specifically to fit with the front facia of the Hawk. WS6 hoods are a composite 2-piece hood which is just a regular Firebird hood with 2 air inlets molded to the top, thus giving that 4 nostril look. This hood can be bolted to any regular Formula or T/A bird without any fitting problems. Unlike the Hawk hoods which must be fitted with the slightly different designed front facia of the Hawk. Now, everything I just mentioned to you was standard equipment for Hawks. What really separated the two were the extra SLP options that were available for Hawks which were:

-Firehawk embroidered floor mats
-Bilstein Suspension '99-'02 or 1LE '01-'02
-Specific triple-chrome plated Firehawk wheels
-Lower rear-deck SLP spoiler which were standard on Anniv. Hawks

If you're wondering, yes I do own one of these rare exstinct beauties, mine is a '99 T/A Hawk one of only 538 built in 99. This was the 1st. regular production year for T/A Hawks, before that Hawks could only be had in Formula trim since they came into production in '92. And for the record, there were no '98 Hawks, Formula or T/A.

Sorry it's so long just trying to explain.

A Hawk just because of its collectability potential alone is probably gonna run you a few more thousand than that. Also, depending on SLP options and mileage on the car you can easily get into the low 30's on a well kept Hawk.

Happy hunting.

FWIW, I paid $30k for my Firehawk. It had 4,078 miles on it. The store also had an '02 WS6, fully loaded, with 8k miles on it, and it was only going for $24k.

My Formula WS6 works for me 1 of 175 Formula WS6s made in 1999 One of the very few hardtops too Beautiful, rare, and I got it for 4% over dealer invoice. (With the options I chose it listed for just under $27K)

I Love Firehawks too - if I had the money at the time, I would have purchased a Formula Firehawk hardtop.

composite hood w/ functional cold air scoops, hood mounted heat extractors, 17x9 five spoke aluminum wheels, 275/40 zr 17 firestone firehawk sz50 tires, performance stainless steel exhaust system w dual tips, upgraded suspension components, firehawk plaque and key fobs, firehawk front fascia badge. Thats right off the slp "firehawk alteration package" page right in front of me. I'm not aware of any intake lid difference on any hawk other than the 02 which had the optional 345 hp package. In 99 the power difference from a 99 wu6 and a ws6 is a whopping 7hp 0 tq. So any track diff is going to pretty much be driver. Of course as previously mentioned the options really set this car apart, in looks, performance, and price. oh and hawk man, they made more than 538 in '99. dont know the exact number off the top..there's my .02 -g

Sorry I didn't seem to clear on this. Total Firehawk production in '99 was 719, but if you break it down to models it was 538 T/A Hawks and 181 Formula Hawks. I have a T/A Hawk #306 of 538. Those #'s were straight from Dave Hamburger at SLP. (I have the breakdown sheet from '99-'00)
