LS1 style and what exactly is it made out of?

Since no one has answered you...

I don't know for exactly, but it's about 50 lbs and it's made of some pretty heavyduty fiberglass.

But it is lighter than the stock hood. Not sure how much, but we could tell a difference doing a swap out.

Colonel's guess is pretty close. IMHO

If a stock SS hood is lighter than a stock Z28 hood, it ain't by much...and I'm not sure that it even is. I've had both and they felt about the same to me.

We did the swap a week or so ago, on a 99 Z to a 99 factory SS hood and there was a difference. Like I said you could feel a difference. By no means was it enough to justify buying one for that reason. I had two F body racers helping and everyone noticed it. Humm.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. It's been a long time ago and it's not like I weighed the SS hood. They're probably within about 5-8 lbs, you think?
