Special Edition Vehicles?
If this forum is about special edition cars, how come no one ever mentions the Dale Earnhardt Intimidators?
Does anybody own one...or know of someone who does? If so, I'd really like to talk to them.
Thanks for any info.

Here are some photos of his:
And ya know I got to include a couple of pics of mine too, even though it isn't an Intimidator SS
** The above pic's of my ZL1 were taken by Jeff Murphy at the SuperCar Reunion in Collinsville, IL Labor Day weekend 2004.

Thanks for the reply J.D. I see you own the #17 02 ZL1. Bet that puts a smile on your face and I'am sure you had fun at the Supercar reunion. I'am a member of the Yenko Supercar forum.
Do you know what GMMG number your friend's intimidator is? I'am attemping to put together a very PRIVATE owners list but the cars are very elusive. Many have changed hands and are scattered all over the country.
If you would, send me a email and I'll give you more info.
Thanks for your help...Craig.

As to Karl's #, no, I don't know which # it is right off hand. I will try to find out for you and let you know though. His is a one owner car and has never been driven by anyone other than him. Up until last summer, he hardly ever drove it. Prior to June of last summer, I think it only had 300 or 400 miles on it. But then, he took it on Power Tour with his handicapped son and they together had an absolute ball. He belongs to the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club along with me - www.midiowacamaroclub.com. A friend of mine, his wife their 7 year old son, another friend and myself (all of us members of the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club) hooked up with them and the tour in Davenport, IA last summer and did the rest of the tour. Davenport was really cool, even though it rained. Got to see lots of folks we knew including Matt Murphy, Ken Boje, Charlie Lilliard, Larry Christensen, etc.

2001 Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS Camaro, sold, $66,800: The SS Camaro is a formidable piece of performance hardware in its own right. But when dearly missed NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt put his stamp of approval on 80 or so special ‘Intimidator’ (Earnhardt’s well-earned track nickname) models, all dressed in black, you had to know something very special would hit the streets.
A 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 (the numbers are proudly displayed on a dash tag) and six-speed manual transmission complete the powertrain, while a host of suspension, wheel/tire (and an assortment of paperwork and literature to back it up) round out the package.
Fifty-five bids and nearly $68,000 later for this never-titled, 100-mile example, proves that ‘Big E’ still gets around.

I was talking with one of my managers at work today. Somehow, she brought up the topic of her husband going to car shows, so I asked about his car. She told me he has a Camaro, which didn’t surprise me because they’re huge NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fans. I’m not really a fan of that type of racing, or those types of cars, but I asked her what year it was, etc. I assumed it was a classic Camaro, because he was taking it to shows and stuff … no. He owns the #5 Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS. Holy.freaking.crap. The #5 car was the first one of that edition that was available to the public, and there were only 84 of them made (according to this article, there were supposed to be 150 made, but because of his tragic death, they stopped production) . Plus, they’ve gotten Dale Earnhardt Jr. to autograph the air-box and the driver’s side visor. That car has to be worth a small freakin’ fortune. And to think… that car is parked in someone’s garage in my lil’ old town, LOL. Crazy stuff.

These are the pics of my friend's Intimidator SS. I should know since as a moderator of the club's website not only did I take the pictures but also posted them. I also was instrumental in putting on this show (Hawkeye Camaro-Fest 2004) for our club. This show will be put on again this summer on July 9th, 2005 as a part of Ankeny Fest.
Why would you insult me by doubting me when you don't even know me?

Geez!! I was just trying to help you guys out by collecting all that information in one place, and this is the thanks I get??
I said 'presumably' there because you did not specify in the June thread who the owner of the Intimidator was that came to the show, but I could presume that it was the same guy's since it was the same club - it theoretically could have been someone else's though. 'Presumably' just meant "It doesn't say whose it was but I can assume it was the same guy based on what else has been said." If I had left out the 'presumably' (could just as easily have put 'I assume' instead... same thing) and just said "it was Karl's", then if it had been someone else's you probably would've gotten pissed off about that instead!
I don't need this kind of ridiculous overreaction over a misinterpretation of one little word (and after I try to help, no less), so I guess I'll just stay out of this section.

By using the work "presumably" you certainly created some doubt as to whether I knew what I was talking about or not and hinted at the thought of deception, IMHO.
I agree, the word assume would have been a better choice.
However, if no ill will was meant, I again apologize.
I have forwarded Karl's information on to NC Guy after talking to Karl on the telephone today. NC Guy will contact Karl and get all the information that he is wanting to compile. ACW, the Mecum Auction that you listed in Des Moines was Karl's car, but fortunately, it did not bring what he wanted out of it to sell it and he decided to keep it.

The Intimidator in IL, is locate in Carol Stream or Bloomingdale. I've only seen the car twice. I beleive the owner of the car puts on a small car show in the summer, so I'll try to find it. I beleive this is a singed car.
The car in OH, I saw for the first time last summer. I have photos at home, so I'll see what I got. If I recall coorectly this car is not signed by Dale Sr. But Dale Jr. and Mike Waltrip have signed it.
Thanks for the compliments, the Berger is one fun car.

The other one could be the # 5 car. Its' the only one I know of that has been signed by Dale Jr. and Mike Waltrip. Their signatures are on each sunvisor. If it is # 5, its' owned by a gentleman in PA. I have photos and all the numbers on it.
Thanks for any help....Craig.
