Default Firehawk?

So i've modded up my gtp to the point that throwing anymore cash it would give me very little gains at this point

So i've been thinking of moving onto an LS1.

Ive always loved the firehawks for as long as I can remember and that is something I'd like to get.

What do you guys think? Is it a good idea or is it cheaper just to buy a ta/formula and put a firehawk frontend/hood on it.

I drive a pace car now and I've always liked how it was individually numbered and I dont see many gtps just ike mine and thats another reason why I'm looking at the firehawk.

not worth the cash? problems? any bad years? Any firehawk or general LS1 buying info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

kyle

Well I have a 01 Z28 and a 97GTP. Looking around for a while and finding the car that you want for the right price is the key. It took me 6 months to find my camaro 27,000 miles for $15,000 and got a 4 year warranty on it and im glad i waited for it bc i love it and could have had the same car coler and interior for 17,500 but with 40,000mi. Take your time and find a good deal their out their.

Firehawks are sick, if it was me I'd try my hardest to get an authentic one, a hood, wheels, paint, suspension will all add up to or close to the difference in price, and you'll have a real one and not a clone.

A Firehawk was what I was wanting. It's the best looking 4th gen f-body in my mind. They were out of my price range though, so I took a look at a '00 Z28, really liked it and bought it.

I say go for the Firehawk man!

1 thing to keep in mind is you're going to pay a good deal more for a Firehawk. Same with a WS6 and SS. All in that order. If you like the looks of a base model TA or Z-28 you're basically getting the same car.

IMO the WS6 looks better than the Firehawk although I came close to buying a Sunset Orange 01 Firehawk before buying my car.

You will find a more collectible car with the Firehawk. If you like one of a few and rare to find cars and you want an LS1 F-Body that most will know is not common than a Firehaawk should fit your bill. I think another would be an anniversary model. IMO the Firehawk would be your best choice after reading what you are looking for.

OR... if you have sime luck and plenty of cash, try for a Blackbird.

Most of my car search effort was directed towards finding a Hawk. I really like the hood and front end on the LS1’s. Some of the SLP optional content really appealed to me, also. I think the Koni suspension package would be awesome. The exclusivity is a huge draw. In the end, I bought a WS6 instead for two reasons: lack of money and patience. I had very specific wants, and looked very hard for 6 months. Six months is a short time, though. I still wonder if I made a mistake settling for a WS6. If money is not an issue, I say get a Hawk. Check out Firehawk.org.

If you have the patience and money to get a firehawk i would. Don't hurry and jump into something, you will be able to find one but be patient and most importantly, you get what you pay for so i hope you have a "built up" bank acount.

IF you want a Hawk, be patient and give it a good 6 mos search before deciding IMO.
Increased mileage over that time should be insignificant and the right seller may come along w/just the right options/mods you are seeking:

Check the boards daily including this one:

Good luck and maybe do some research on rarity.....the SOM's are sick!

Darn it Pontiacfan, you beat me once again
If it were me, I wouldn't have anything but a WS6 or Hawk.

alright thanks for the input guys.

I'll definetly keep my eyes open and go for it then. Sounds like there arent any really negative sother than price and rarity, I see them for sale occaisonally but never was actually intending to buy until recently.

what do they run in the 1/4 stock? just cuz i'd like it ot be able to beat my gtp with very little work if any.

and did they come with both manual and auto?

Stockish LS1's will run about the same as WS6.......mid 13's, but depending on tires, tranny, gears, etc. Figure 13.4 - 13.9's

A4 - 3.23 gears
M6 - 3.42 gears

Very good advice there firehawk526 ...patient! patient! Hey there
GTPKyle..My son has a 2000 gtp modded, and a 99 gtp stock. What a great car for the buck!!! I wish I had the heads up display though, and the room in those cars.. Just be patient on finding a hawk, I too spent 6 months looking..

I ran a 13.2@109 with only a lid and cat-back, and I am not a good driver (2.3 60' times). This was a `99; newer ones should be a tick faster.
