Insurance I would love to own a trans am, but unfortunately money is an issue. Ive been told that there is a big difference between the base model trans am and the TA with the WS6 pkg.
Can you please post your age, if you have the WS6 pkg, what you pay every 6 months, and if you have it as your DD or a Pleasure car.

The title has the VIN that the insurance company goes by to quote your insurance. They can tell the difference between the base model and the WS6 by looking at the letters in the beginning of the VIN.. If your looking for insurance for your pleasure car, Hagerty is who I use for my birds. I pay $1,500 a year for both , 1999 and 2002 convertible.
They should just look at it as a 2 door sport cars with a V8. Just because someone has a Saleen, WS6, Firehawk, or SS shouldn't change anything. Most of these are just appearence changes on the car. My full coverage insurance (based on the value of the car) for my Hawk is less than $60 a month. That is weekend(recreational) insurance and a house, 1999 regal, 1994 ranger are on the same policy. I have no tickets or wrecks on my record.
I know someone that works for an insurance company. She told me the base T/A is considered a luxury car w/ some companys and the WS6 is considered a sports car. So theres the difference in insurance prices. W/ the T/A interior I can see it being considered a 'luxury car' kind of. But still, a hood and somes suspension doesnt change the interior or engine the one car

My insurance just says, Formula/Trans Am". Some sites will ask if it has the "Ram Air Package", and of course they will charge more. They can not tell by the VIN if it's a WS6 or not.
My insurance paid all at once for full coverage is about $1250 for six months, 21 no tickets or accidents with $1000 deductables.

im not to sure about a big difference, its a suspension package and the ram air hood. it shouldnt affect your insurance a bit. im 24, married and i own a 97 WS6. my husband is 26 and we have a baby and a truck. ill ask him what we pay for insurance. my car payment is 180$ a month. i stole it - modded for $7500
