calm down. it wont rust just from being near the beach. ask LS1 owners in florida, california, jersey shore, etc. 4th gen bodies are almost all plastic, and the quality of the steel, talking undercariage, is very good. as long as you dont drive through puddles/waves of salt water, youre going to be fine. keep it washed, clean, with a good coat of quality wax. whenever you wash it, hose off the underside as best you can. any garage, regardless of climate control, is perfect. buy a car tent if you have to and have the room. if youre insanely freaked out, have it professionally undercoated.

There are plenty of worse enviroments as far as chassis longevity. I lived in Southern California and spent alot of time in salt air, and never had any problems with rust.

You could get really crazy and get what they call an oil bath on the undercarrige. Its exactly what is sounds like, an oil bath. Up here in NY where there is salt on the roads 6 months outta the year, a lot of my buddies with pick up trucks have this done and they seem to hold up pretty good. Only down fall is that is drips all over the place the first few days, and you have to do it every few months if your car is a daily driver. I on the other hand wouldnt worry one bit!!!! and just do what EchoMirage said- just keep it clean.

Just keep it clean, wash it and wax it once in a while, nothing to worry about, just don't drive on the beach during spring break.

if its done correctly, and i mean correctly, undercoating looks and works fine. i had it on my 96 S10 (prev. owner factory applied). it looked just like a spray on bedliner, but not quite as thick or hard. there was not a spot of rust, rot, scrape, anything under that truck. its really overkill for your TA, you dont need it. wash/wax/spray undercarriage and youre fine. a garage is best, tent will do. if youre looking at coating that looks like tar, it was probably either very old, or not done properly.
