I am looking at a 98 or 99 formula. I was wondering what the difference is between the formula and a normal Trans. Am

The Trans Am comes one way, loaded. Leather seats, t-tops, power seat with adjustable lumbar gizmo, monsoon cd radio, etc. Also came only with t-tops or a vert, no hardtop trans ams

Formulas you could option them how you wanted. You could have crank windows, manual locks, no remote fob, manual cloth seats, etc. Can get t-top, hardtop, or vert. You could order all the fancy gizmos and leather seats if you wanted.

i dont see why anybody would pay for more for a less optioned trans am when you could get a formula with more options and just put a different hood on it...ram air formulas are super sexxy...

difference is body kit, bumpers, spoiler, and extra weight, and all the interior option diff's

With the exception of the two special-ordered-for-a-dealership '98 WS6 Formula 'verts, you could not buy a LS1 Formula as a 'vert. Also, WS6 option was N/A on Formulas after '00.

Now if I'm not mistaken the formula and the trans am would the be bottom of the firebird class headed by the WS6 and Firehawk. The formaula would be the least attractive one but it packs a ls1 and weighs 40-50 punds lightier than the TA which also packs the LS1. The WS6 comes with a performance package that adds upgraded suspension, 17in alloy rims, ram air hood, and some fine tuning that bring it to about 325-335hp. The Firehawk is "said" to have a better suspension and about 10-15 more horsepower than a WS6 because it come with an upgraded exhaust and a lot of other SLP options. I'm pretty sure there are other differences (more specific) between the 4, but this is my mediocre attempt to explain it. Feel free to comment or correct.

Wrong Forum for this thread but anyway
A Formula is everything a Trans Am is without all the fluff.

All LS1 Formula's come standard with PL, PW, PM, and Monsoon CD w/10 speakers.
Trans Am's add Pwr Leather Seats T-tops and Keyless Entry, along with the spoiler ground effects and different Front and Rear Fascia's
The only way to get manual windows locks and Mirrors in a Formula was to get a 1LE (`98`00 only) because all the Power equipment was deleted for an $1,125 Credit.

I ordered my Formula Jan `98 as a base car with the Alarm and Keyless Entry as the only extra cost options.

If I'm not mistaken the Formula and the TA would be at the bottom of the firebird class headed by the WS6 and the Firehawk. The Formula comes equiped with the LS1 and weighs about 40-50lbs lightier than the TA , but would have to be the least appealing of the 4. The TA also comes with the LS1 and of course the more u spend the more options u get, u know t-tops, convertable, radio, power this, power that etc etc. The WS6 comes with a performance package that includes upgraded suspension, ram air package, 17 inch alloy wheels, 275/40/17 tires, and some fine tuning that brings it to about 325-335hp. The firehawk is "said" to be faster due to even better suspension and upgraded exhaust among other SLP extras giving it 10-15 more hp than the camaro killer, excuse me "WS6". I'm sure there are other differences, but this is my mediocre explaination of the 4. Feel free to comment or correct.

From looking at that window sticker, i think its funny how our cars get better than EPA ratings on the highway. I just pulled 30.8MPG at 80-85 on Sunday.

You got me beat, We only have 2 WS.6s. A Cammed, full bolt on 2000, and a lid/catback/gear 2002. Both 6 speeds as well.
