Default LS6 Block?

I recently heard that 25% of 2002 LS1's have an LS6 block. Somebody who knows the markings checked mine and told me mine is one of the 25%. I have an 02 Silver SS. Can somebody shed some light on this? What's the big deal? Why were 25% of them built this way? Am I special.

There was a batch of the LS6 block going around, some 01's have them too, I never checked mine...

Search, you'll find the info needed to determine if you have one, ...
(BTW, even if you did have the LS6 block, it doesn't mean you automatically have more power, ...)
Look for the bullseye, it's the easiest quick visual, otherwise look for the code number on the back/top side of the drivers side area of the block.

I looked and there is no bullseye on the block. I looked at some friends' cars and they have them. I guess it's cool. What is so great about the LS6 block? I mean, I know what it is and all, but if just the block is different, that wouldn't make a difference. Do some put out more power? Is there some mod that I can do that normal blocks cannot? Please forgive my ignorance. :p

From what I've heard the only difference is the LS6 block is mildly reinforced. I'm sure someone else might know a little more about it though.

the only real difference between the LS6's and LS1's are the heads and cam. I plopped a GM LS6 crate engine in my Hawk and it idles the same and everything. The difference I have is how the car really gets going top end. I have yet to go to a dyno to get the HP numbers from my 320hp on the LS1 and I have made no other changes to the car since the LS1 came out.
