Why are you going w/ the AFR as opposed to a Patriot or TEA or someone like that??? The reason that I'm asking is because I have the exact same questions that you have about the AFR heads, but are they really worth it and how did you come to your conclusion???

I have done some research on the TEA stage 3 head and they flow better than the AFR 205cc Mongoose Street. Here are the graphs.

AFR

205cc Mongoose Street
Lift Intake Exhaust
.100"
.200" 140 112
.300" 200 170
.400" 251 203
.500" 281 221
.550" 292 226
.600" 298 230

Price: $2,182
No core

TEA Stage 3
LS1 5.3 Stage 3
Lift Intake Exhaust
.100" 70.9 55.1
.200" 141.3 115.3
.300" 204.2 157.0
.400" 251.3 200.6
.500" 292.5 255.7
.550" 308.2 268.3
.600" 319.6 276.0

Price: $2,099.95
$350 Core for New 5.3 Heads

I really nead some help here... Anyone feel free to respond...

Matt, Are the AFR 205 heads better than the LS6 CNC ported racing heads?

Going to revive this one, mainly because I'm still unsure exactly what parts AFR ships their heads outfitted with. Anyone?

Lots of threads already exist to discuss AFR vs the others...

I'll itemise it for you:

8- 2.02 Stainless intake valves
8- 1.60 Stainless exhaust valves
16- PP Gold dual springs good to .650 lifts
16- Titanium retainers
16- Hardened seats
8- intake valve seals
8- exhaust valve seals
32- locks (they are 2 piece/ valve)

They are assembled, checked, buffed, spit on, dusted and look beautiful.
They are out of box at 66cc (unmilled)

and then they are packed > shipped. (free shipping) for $2182.00

There are a lot of other valvetrain options available depending on the source.

Titanium intake valves.
Inconel exhaust valves.
Bigger valve spring package.
"Super Seven" retainers and locks.

Even solid roller valvetrain if you are so inclined..

I really hate whiners, but thanks for finally writing out what is included with the heads. I'm sure someone else will get something out of this post by having it written out...calling the vendor really doesn't share that info with anyone bit myself. Can we drop the crybaby stuff guys? PLEASE

Back to business. So according to EDC's post the vendors don't all use the same equipment, but Predator noted some specifics (PP springs, ti retainers)...so is predators info what AFR ships with, then the vendors adjust as they see fit? I'm thinking yes, but want to be sure.

Exclamation

AFR does not use PP gold springs.

They use their own pieces when shipped assembled.
