Couple Car Stereo Questions
I'm in the process of redoing the system in my SS.
So far it's got...
JL Coaxials
JL 500/1 amp
JL 8w7 Sub in a stealthbox
Here's what's coming...
2 JL 6w3v3 Subwoofers
JL 500/5 5 channel amp
Here's my problems...
Even with just the 500/1 (It's been bench tested at like 773 Watts RMS) amp, I'm getting serious voltage drops (even at cruising RPMs) when it hits a long, low bass note. So obviously, I'm going to need a new alternator (especially after putting in the 5 channel).
Where are you guys getting high amp alternators?
I'm planning to do something a little unorthodox with the 6" subs. I'm going to make a box for them that will take the place of the original 4" speakers in the hatch. I'm sure it'll need to be fiberglass, and I've never done that before, so I'm going to have someone do it.
Does anyone have any pics of custom rear panels that were made for something like this? Anyone have any better ideas?
My idea is to have 3 small subs, a ton of power, and no lost t-top storage.
I'd love to see any pics of any custom installs.
Thanks.

No offense, but I'm tired of getting crap for using JL.
I always hear "You can get better for the money", but can anyone really say anything bad about JL except the price? I've yet to hear one complaint about JL's performance, and I've yet to hear anything that sounds near as good, even dollar for dollar.
So yeah, I'm stuck on JL, until I HEAR something better for myself.
The big 3 will be getting done as soon as I have the time.
I already have an Optima Red Top, would it be worth it to switch to a yellow top?

Well, I wouldn't call $485 for my 8w7 and 500/1 overpriced, when they were both brand new, in the box
And I'm very happy with them at any price. In my experience, JL is the most reliable, with the best sound quality. I'd love to hear something from Fi, Digital Designs or Audiopulse/TC, but where? Noone stocks the stuff around here, and noone has it. Noone can tell me if they're reliable, I can't even find where I can buy Digital or Audiopulse (I was looking at an Audiopulse Epic 8" for my civic).
I also spent less than $300 on my 6w3's... and to find any other 6" sub that can handle the power, the best I could find was about $400 for the pair.
