Default What year did the Monsoon stereo start

I have a 94. The factory radio is nothing like my old 97, so I'm assuming this year doesn't have the mosoon system.

All 4th gen f-bodies were available with a base 4-speaker audio system or a premium audio system. For 93-96 Camaros, the premium system was a Bose 3-speaker or 5-speaker system which included a sub in the hatch area. For 93-96 Firebirds, the premium system was a 10-speaker system that was somewhat similar to the later Monsoon but had a smaller amp that only powered the sail panel subs. The Monsoon system was the premium audio available from 97 through 02. The Camaro version had 8 speakers all powered by the amp while the Firebird version had 10 speakers with the front and rear tweeters powered by the head unit and all other speakers powered by the amp.

Mine has to be the base system. It doesn't have a cd player or anything. So I don't have to worry about matching ohm loads for the front speakers? Also I could just put a regular coaxial in the sailpanels, right?

Thanks for you help.

If it's a Camaro, the premium system will say Bose on the head unit. If it's a Firebird, the premium system included speakers in the hatch area. Otherwise, it's a base audio system. The base system included only four full-range speakers - two in the doors and two in the sail panels. The sail panel speakers were 10-ohm "extended range" (GM's name, not mine) but standard 4-ohm speakers (coax, 3-way, or whatever) will work fine for replacing all speakers.
