Default 8" subs in sail panel...

Anyone else ever done it? How was the fit of the panels after wards. Did you go sealed or ported, was it worth it? It took me for ever to seal, dampen and port them. I'm still not done, I tested them and they seem a bit boomy, I hope with some tuning I can get them to sound good. Any input welcome.

I want to do something in the sail panels, I was thinking 8's or maybe some of the CDT 6.5's from Kee Audio like the HD-M6's shown here http://www.keeaudio.com/id68.html

Your work looks well done, got any pictures of what you did behind the speakers before you bolted them in?

I'll post up some pics tomorrow of the inside(i think I have some). The port's fire to the back. I was messing with the crossover points and it's starting to sound pretty good. I had to cross them @ 65Hz cuz the hatch adds a bit of it's own thump. I need to get the front's (image dynamics ctx 65 that should be arriving soon) in this week so i can finally tune it right.

I just went thru my pictures and I didn't take any of the inside. Since these subs are 4 in. in depth i had to cut a 2.75" hole in the panel behind the subs and also had to hammer down about 1.5'' of the edge of the panel, where it's curved. Than I made a spacer using 1/4" mdf. I finally got the panels in and it's a tight fit. Can't wait to get the front speakers.

Cool, I'm going to tackle mine at some point, I'll try to get some pictures when I do. Soon as I get my car back from the body shop (probably 2 more weeks ) I'm going to take my interior out and go nuts with my stereo install. I'll don't think I'll have sail panel speakers yet though, right now I've got some components and an upstage system to install, and then setup the Imprint stuff with my Alpine deck. I think it's going to be a bit weak on bass, I have a 10" in a stealth box, and it hits really well, but I don't think it'll keep up at higher volumes, which is why I want to do something in the sail panels after. I drive the car too many miles a year to take the spare tire out and put in a second stealth box on the passenger side.
