Microphone for Windows RTA to tune EQ
#4
Since my headunit is the 13 band EQ, I cannot tune each speaker separately. Is the correct place for the mic at the top of the seat, where my head would be?
I plan to get the Alpine 12 channel processor (has 31 EQ bands and crazy x-over abilities) in the future, so that will have the ability to tune each speaker individually.... then the mic should be right in front of the speaker, right?

I use this one at work with TruRTA. Works really well.

Launching!
Daytons are good as are behringers
TrueRTA isn't probably the best tuning tool out there. The way the software runs (at least used to) it did real-time measurements but wasn't great w/ white noise.
A better software is REW. It used to be available on the home theater forum. It now has it's own site. https://www.roomeqwizard.com/ That software uses sweeps and records them. You can take several sweeps and average them together for a more accurate picture of what's going on.
REW will also allow you to do time-alignment measurements. If you're going to do that, do it first, then do the sweeps.
More tuning info is available on the diymobileaudio.com forum and the home theater forum.
Any other questions let me know.
