Default Why does my VATS bypas fail every few months ?

I have an audiovox brand remote start in my car.

Its profesionally installed but Why does the bypass fail every 4 months or so?

The alarm/remote start unit is 3.5 years old. Could it be on it's way out ?

Does the VATS issue occur in cars that don't have aftermarket remote starts/alarms? If yes, I want to get rid of this unit.

Thanks

When it fails, what do you have to do to get it working again? Replace the resistors? Are you using resistors that flow enough current (1/2 watt)? The heat produced by current flow might damage 1/4 watt resistors over time. Also, make sure the resistors have some air flow around them to dissipate heat (especially since they're probably wrapped in electrical tape).

Thanks for response WhiteBird

I usually have to get the bypass done all over again when it fails.
I didn't do the bypass myself so I'm not sure if 1/2 watt or 1/4 watt resistors were used.

This time i 'll give it a try myself and get the resistors some type of ventilation, so they don't burn out.

idk if thats your issue. i believe i have used 1/4 watt but maybe i have always used 1/2 watt but i have had them completely covered in heat shrink before
