Default Autometer tach hook up to stereo

I have a autometer tachometer with a red, green, black, and white wire. Is it easiest to just pull the stereo out and tap into the dash lighting and attach the wire for ignition right at the stereo? Plus neg wire runs to the battery frame ground. Green wire goes to the pcm or coil wire? Any one have pics of this?

Stereo illumination wire along with stereo ignition wires would be perfectly fine for this. If you start adding more items that require more amperage then you'll want to run a separate relay and power. I believe best option for the tach signal would be to tap off the tach signal wire that runs over the passenger front wheel well to the TCU unit. I think the color of the wire is white, you might want to verify that. The Autometer should be able to read the 4000ppm signal that runs for that, you may need to select a 4 cylinder option to use that signal.
