Default Alarm

I want to fit an alarm to my 99 Z28 Camaro, I don't have Keyless entry AU0, but I do have AU3 electric door locks

Is there a cheap alarm system I can buy on Ebay that will unlock my doors from the key fob.

I am in the UK , I need someone who does worldwide shipping.

Do I have to get something that disables VATS?

do you have power locks? if so then you should be able to get a keyless entry remote and program it to your car, and then intruicate the alarm in it. but most alarms come with the keyless entry remote anyways.

Default Alarm

I have power door locks, AU3 RPO code. Can I open them just by getting a key fob and programming in?

Don't I need a different keyless entry module to do that?
As per this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=keyless+entry

Does anyone know how much the module costs from GM?

heres a site for additional key fobs but im sure you can do it for the main key fob.
http://installuniversity.com/install...sity/index.htm
go to install documents and scroll down until you see key fob in one of the catagories.

shave your door handles and install sylinoids(sp) to just pop your doors open, thats what im gonna do eventually, then get a cheap aftermarket alarm and wire it to the fob you get with the sylinoid kit

Default keyless entry

I here what your saying guys, First I need to buy a key fob off Ebay.com Then try and programme it.

If I have electric door locks there are solinoids in there already, as when I press my lock switch inside the car the door locks and unlocks via a solinoid Yes?

I have a factory 12 disc CD player fitted is there anyway to tell if a code has been set?

I am worried if I pull the Radio fuse I will not have the code for the radio?

Cheers for your help guys off to Ebay now for a key fob

Default Keyless entry alarm

Hi guys I just found this alarm on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cheve...spagenameZWDVW

Can anyone tell me if this will work on my 99 Z28 Camaro to give me Keyless entry? it say it does remote start too. (I thinking maybe you guys who install alarms will see that the right parts are there thanks)

I have electric door locks AU3 but I don't have keyless entry (AU0)

Or would this one be better it's a bit more basic

Or this one sounds good?

dont do the remote start it will damage something eventually, like your starter. at least thats what i have been told not a good idea, but if you want to i dont see why that alarm system wouldnt work on your car.

Default Alarm Keyless entry

I have shoot a few emails to sellers on Ebay of alarms and remote starts. The general feedback is I can fit keyless entry via an alarm if I cut into the trigger wire that locks and unlocks the doors.

The remote starts need something to get around the VATS system I've seen one that hold a spare key and uses the chip when you do a remote start.

I've seen VATS pass systems on Ebay.com USA.

My 95 LT1 that I have just sold had keyless entry Alarm and DEI remote start, It freaked everyone out over here as I have never seen a car with it fitted before (UK)

Does Anyone have a wiring diagram of the door power locks so I can fit an alarm with keyless entry?

Default Keyless Entry Alarm

I went for this Alarm in the end it has keyless entry and remote start. I will have to do some sort of VATS bypass for the remote start to work.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I found this site with some good wiring info regarding alarms

http://www.lastofthebreed.com/Servic...FbodyAlarm.htm

Now all I have to do is wire it up (I'll be back in about a month Then!)

Cheers Andy

If I understand your situation: You have power lock but NOT keyless entry. You want to get an aftermarket alarm system.

Seems to me all you need to do is install the aftermarket alarm of your choice. The installer will hook it up to actuate the doorlocks with the remote used to arm/disarm the alarm (comes with the alarm system). Don't waste money on a stock keyfob.

Default Alarm Keyless Entry

Yes I should have explained better at the start of the thread!

I still have to use the darn key to get in!

Yes I think have found out that won't work but you can do keyless through an alarm as you say.

I always do my own work on the car I bought the alarm with keyless entry and remote start for £30 ($50) and I will fit it myself. I begrudge paying people loads of money for stuff I can do myself with a bit of intenet help.

Man they would want £500 ($800) to fit a system wih remote start

Before I became a member here I spent a lot of time on CamaroZ28.com.
Anyway I was doing a search there on fitting alarms with keyless entry with remote start. I came across this install guide which is very detailed and covers all the problem areas like retained accessory power and VATS bypass for remote start.

It was so good I think others will find it useful it's by a very helpful guy called Brant Franker.

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/alarm96up.htm

It's a bit involved for us novices but if you tackle each part of the install one at a time it dosn't seem that daunting.

Thanks for all who tried to help me in this thread.

Cheers Andy

Default alarm

Alarm is now fitted and working fine, althogh I didn't bother to connect up the remote start yet. I follewed the wiring on Brent franker's web site as the link above.

Brent was spot on if you don't put the diodes in there strange things happen like when you open the door the other door opens (cause they are linked by the interior light coming on), when you lock the doors with the door switch the interior lighs flash. I put the diodes in and this stopped.

Cheers Andy
