Default looking for new subs......

i think it's time for some new subs. i've had the MTX 8500 10's for 2 years now, and the voice coils are starting to bang against the cone under heavy load and it makes a terrible popping noise. my amp is a Clarion DPX1000.2 amp (2 channel 1000 watts). i wanna keep my box, it fits perfectly up in the rear deck. what subs do any of you recommend i get? i wanna try to stay at or around $200, so pretty much whats the best bang for my buck here. i want these to last a while too, unlike the MTX's. any suggestions?

I got a kenwood excelon 12 inch sub, 200 watts rms. And I have it connected to a u.s acustics bridged 150 rms watts. And I play a lot of Chicano rap and many songs have a lot of bass and so far the subs handles every type of bass fairly well. Its got clean bass. But when I play the bass that has a thump to it, it sound ok. But the booming bass music, this sub handles great.

I suggest you purchase some 8ohm subs to run that amp in 4 ohm mono @ 500 watts, because for $200 ($100/speaker) you will not find a 10" that will handle 500 watts RMS well over time. I suggest spending a little more on the woofers, or running less power. If you really have to run 1000 watts, I suggest running the Elemental Designs 110 OV.
