Default 98 camaro gauge cluster ?

some one told me that on the 98's if you took the gauge cluster out that i would loose the odometer reading i dont really think this is true but i wanted to see if any one else had heard that so any info on it would be nice

the cluster has the milage in it, but so does the BCM, so swaping clusters, they should calibrate themselver every so often, not sure if this is true, but if its for milage prevention, a dealer scan tool will tell the other milage too...

As Slow said, it won't lose the reading. I just had mine out yesterday swapping the backlighting color over to blue. My odometer still reads the same.

I took mine out to add a T/A bezel with no problem
