Default radio not working

my brother just bough his first LS1 and the radio doesnt work I looked at the monsoon amp and it has yellow greese all in the connector. Would that stop it from working? I looked at the wiring goin into the h/u to see if maybe some wires were spliced into but found nothing unusual. The radio turns on makes a pop sound to the speakers but have no sound. BTW everything is factory. Any ideas?

Check the RADIO ACCY fuse (don't just look at it - either test it or replace it) - it's the fuse that powers the Monsoon amp. The grease is dielectric and is there to keep out moisture. It won't cause a problem with the connection.

you wouldnt happen to know where that is would you bc the car didnt come with the manual, and theres no cover on the fuse box under the hood
