I have a 2000 Z28 with the Monsoon radio/CD player. A friend of mine just gave me a SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. Is there a way of hooking this up through the system via the AUX of the head unit, or am I peeing in the wind with it?

Just buy the gm aux adapter, its a 2000 model so it will have an auxiliary output to hook up the adapter!

i have a 98 trans am.
can i just put this cable into the back of my monsoon head unit.
how does this. work?
I have a 10 disc changer in the back and in the head unit í can use tapes /casettes.

Will i still be able to use my cd changer.
I never use tapes so if it would use this instead it would be great.

Yes, you can use the adapter with a cassette head unit. No, you can't keep the changer afterward - both the changer and the auxiliary device will play at the same time (sounds awful).

Another option would be using a cassette adapter. It will allow you to connect an auxiliary device (MP3 player, satellite radio, etc.) through the tape drive of the head unit and you can still use your CD changer. Good cassette adapters are under $20 and cheap ones are available for around $10. Sony makes a good one that I think Wal-Mart sells. Radio Shack makes a terrible one that always seems misaligned and produces lots of tape hiss so avoid theirs.

I have a 2001 TA with the monsoon CD radio I don't see any button for Aux
but the Pie Aux-9 says it fits

I have a 98 z28 with the monsoon cd radio unit, on the face it shows and aux button, but i don't see where to hook up an mp3 player to? can you hook them up on the 98's.... p.s. no tape player.

It won't work. The various auxiliary adapters require the head unit to be capable of controlling a factory external CD changer. All cassette head units had this capability but the CD head units didn't get this until the 2000 model (actually, very late in the 99 model year). You'd have to replace your 98 CD head unit with either a cassette or a later CD head unit.

I hope this is as easy as it sounds 'cause I'm sick to death of driving down the highway and trying to find a CD that'll keep my interest for more than 2 songs lol. I actually wanna use my laptop, but anything will do

Its looks like the GM9-AUX will only give you RCA inputs, a Ipod/mp3 player only has a the headphone style connection. Is there another adapter?

All you need is a simple patch cable with 1/8" mini stereo plug on one end and RCA plugs on the other end. That type of cable is available for just a couple of bucks at Radio Shack or any electronics store.

Forgive me, WhiteBird00 for asking the same question again, but I have already read many of your posts regarding this and I am still unclear about the Ipod hookup.

I have an 01 TA w/factory trunk changer. Are you saying the factory HU has RCA outs on it?

If it's this simple I must be dreaming.

No, there are no RCA jacks on the factory head unit. However, 2000 and newer CD head units can use an adapter (GM9-AUX) which plugs into the CD changer port on the back of the head unit to provide RCA jacks for auxiliary input.

There are also similar adapters that are designed specifically for iPods. They work the same but they also charge the iPod's battery while you're using it.

As I've said in both this thread and your other one, buy an adapter such as the GM9-AUX and it will give you RCA jacks to connect your iPod to the factory radio.

Well, there are actually several different brands of adapters that all do pretty much the same thing. The three most well known are PIE (Precision Interface Electronics), PAC (Pacific Accessory Corp.), and USA Spec. The GM9-AUX from PIE is the most popular. You should be able to find it online by searching for "GM9-AUX" but check with Kee Audio (a sponsor) - he might carry it. I would avoid the PAC AAI-GM9 version because it requires a working external CD changer.
