Pewterpower

At night, with the headlights on, the display face will fade in and out. It will glow real bright, and then go almost completely out. Not all the time, just intermittantly. Nothing else in the car does this, all the other lights (dash, *****, stereo buttons, etc...) stay steady. I've checked the ground on the battery and it's good.
Is the display crapping out? Or is there something to look for that's causing this?
