Default Monsoon Deck - Non Monsoon ???

Is there a difference between the Trans Am Monsoon head unit and a regular Firebird head unit? The only visual difference I see is that one has Monsoon painted on it in the corner. I bought it on ebay to replace my Monsoon tape player with CD but I neglected to see If it was Monsoon. I just dont want my stereo performance to suffer and it needs to work with factory 12cd changer. Thanks in advance for any help

I believe they are the same unit. My "Monsoon" unit did not say Monsoon on it anywhere and was identical to my friends Monsoon deck.

Thats what I was thinking... I will try it out and see. The difference is probably in the rest of the stereo. amps, speakers and such

The year of the CD player plays a big role in whether or not it will work with the CD-Changer.

This is the breakdown of which headunits will work with the CD-Changer
* 1998 - 2002 Cassette
* late-1999 - 2002 CD
The only way to determine whether a 1999 CD unit will work (besides connecting it) is to open it and check the code on the CD motherboard (there is a list of codes on here for which ones work). Your best bet is to stick with 2000-2002.

Head units with the "MONSOON" logo are the same as the other ones- the logo is the only exception.
