Default SS vs. WS6 Monsoon

My neighbour and good friend just picked up a mint 35th SS vert. I have an 02 WS6 vert.

His Monsoon actually sounds GOOD. Mine sounds like **** in comparison!!!

WTF???

There are differences but they are relatively minor (components in the hatch and DVC sail panel subs in Firebirds). Brand new, the Firebird version sounds a little better than the Camaro version because of speaker placement and the extra power to the subs. However, the speakers are made of cheap materials and will literally fall apart over time. I expect you would find replacement speakers would make a big difference in how your Monsoon system sounds.

EDIT: those differences apply to coupes - convertible Camaros and Firebirds have almost identical Monsoon systems so it's even more likely that your speakers are in need of replacement.

That makes sense - I'm @ 30,000 miles and lots of days with the top down and he's @ 5000 miles - with the car having liven in a shop with the roof us.

I have read the stickys on this topic, but has anyone found good direct replacement speakers on the TA vert such that you don't have to change the grill?
