Default C6 vs modded 5.0

I FINALLY finished my POS yesterday. I previously installed a Vengeance LS3 cam (Im doing an LS3 conversion), PP springs, UD pulley and mailorder tune and the car was stuck in 4th gear, it wouldnt shift at all (ECM/TCM communication problem).

Retuned the ECM, runs great!

Im out putting some miles on it to dial in the ECM and I ran across a modded 5.0 GT (basic 5.0 bolt ons w/ small cam was obvious) and he paced me for a few minutes then we dropped it to 2nd (me with paddles) and I honked it off from 45 mph and I walked right away and let off at an easy 3 cars. Myself and my buddy were in my car.

Next race, I figured I would give him the jump after honking it off to make it closer. Dont do this

This time, I was too slow for 2nd @ 20-25 mph (should have been in 1st) but stayed there anyway. I honked it off and gave him an extra milisecond to go before I went and he instantly put a length on me and I just let off, I wasnt gonna waste the gas since it would have taken a little while to pull past him and we were looking at traffic. I would have blown the tires in 1st but was just too low for 2nd to really pull that soon. He was in 1st gear but I thought it might still work.

Oh well, cool guy. It started to rain drzzle seconds later so that was it. I was gonna bust his azz again the third time, no charity this round.

Im not used to loosing. I didn't loose 1 single streetrace with the Cobra once I installed the 2.8 KB. It sucks loosing, driver error or not. My Cobra had enough power to give everyone a slight jump and then row right past them.

the vette is still way badder than the cobra, nice kill! Those 5.0 can be a real beast in the right hands tho.

Well that 2.8KB you put on is a pretty big mod, once you do something similar(cost wise, h/c) you won't have to worry about loosing to often in the C6. I agree still, the C6 is a way nicer car than the Cobra.

Jay, beware of some of those older Ford Mustang 5.0's as they can be made to go very fast..They are very light in weight to begin with, and can be modd'd very cheaply... Infact, the one race I remember the most was against an older hardtop 5.0 mustang LX years ago with all the bolt on mods, it was kinda rusty and old looking but it took me straight up to 100mph, and I was so shocked as it creaped past me at 50mph or so as I was under full throttle and nitrous running...What a suprise!!!... A true sleeper that edged me out and it ran N/A... I said damn man how did you get that thing to go so fast, he said complete exhaust, intake and some weight reduction and that was it.....

I saw this thread and it brought back memories...

It's about damn time the new Street Racing mod posted a STREET RACE!!!

Nice kill and death! I just had one of those driver error losses last night, as well (missed fourth against the GT500 and couldn't pull back that race, so I chalk it up as a loss - although 1 out of 3 isn't bad ). It does suck losing when you know you have the faster car, but it happens every once in a while, especially when you're getting used to new mods or a new car.

Actually I sold my Cobra for $25K and got the C6 for $30K, though it was the cheapest anywhere.

Still slow though.

Its a Vengeance cam for the LS3 (224/235/610/620/115). It idles well and really rips too, the best of both worlds. It will be much better with the LS3 heads/intake (soon) though, its no optimal with the LS2 heads/shetty LS2 intake.

Yea man, its not bad now, my buddy is running me this weekend with his pullied Cobra (470rwhp vs 420rwhp). He is not the best driver so Im sure I will take him since he is still learning but I think its got enough now to run 11's @ 119-121-ish. It's getting there. Once I install the Vengeance cnc'd LS3 heads/ported LS3 intake, it should make 450-470rwhp and then it will be ready for a 150 shot. Its nice to have the A6, it really does shift well with the paddles after the TCM tune and when you dont feel like shifting, leave it in "D" and it still hauls azz.

If Im not happy then, Ill get another Cobra or a C6Z, them bitches are getting cheaper......

I am way too lazy to go out there on a Sunday night. I'll let you know if we do head out Friday night though.

Anybody know any KB Cobras around Ft. Lauderdale? We can ask V-series, he knows everybody in Broward with a 500+ hp car. Lol.
