Audi R8 Goes Down
At first he didn't seem interested in running, so I passed him on the right and minded my own business.
Several miles down the road I see him coming up in the right lane fast....real fast. I clicked off the traction control and dropped the car into 4th to stop what is going to be a fly-by. He is doing 100+. At about two car lengths back, I gun it to put him at my door. I immediatly stop his advance. My car starts to kick sidways at the top of 4th as I build momentum to go by him. I peddle it a bit to get some traction and shoot past him with a bit of a fish tail. I slam it into 5th and the car grabs. I let out about 2 car lengths ahead and we both slow down. I move into the right lane and he gets on my bumper. We've slowed down to normal speeds at this point. He aggressively changes lanes and guns it again. I wait for him to get to my door again and drop it into 4th at about 80 mph. I hammer it anticipating a bit of spin this time. I let off a smidge to get some traction and slam the car into 5th. He is getting murded at this point and falls back very quickly. I take the car up to about 140. He is about 2 busses back at this point.
I let off and he dives off the freeway onto an exit.
It made my day. Gotta love killing a 120k sports car with the 'beater'.
I need to get the car to the track to find out what it will 1/4 in this cold weather. I run street tires, so probably something in the low 130's due to a lot of wheelspin.
you'd probably run a better time once it gets a little warmer again. i had my car out at the track last wednesday and it was doing okayish until the sun went down. they actually shut the track down early because it was so cold that no one was getting traction. they figured out that the area around the starting line and the tree was about 40 degrees but at about 100 feet it dropped to 28 degrees. i was having problems keeping traction. i'd get about halfway through second with my foot on the floor and then i'd break loose after already being in gear. right around where i get into the middle of second at the track, is where the temp drop is. it was like hitting ice. you think you're fine after you shift and hook but a second later you get a little sideways. and that's just with exhaust and 4.10's. and a traction bar mind you. with all the power you make, you'll be going every which way but straight. so to make a long story even longer, i'd just wait it out til spring.
then i slow back down. cause there was a junction ramp coming up that i was gonna take, and he cut behind me and we take this junction. and i see him on my ***, so i start to roll on the throttle a little and lean a little more. and i hear him get on it, and try to keep up. by the time the junction turn was over, it led to a little ramp to get back on the freeway. and when i got to the end of the on ramp i look back and he was about 6-7 cars back
