Default 01 Trans Am vs 03 Evo

Rolled out tonight with my asst grocery manager (publix) to race his 2003 evo. My mods are in my sig. I don't know what his exact mods are but he "claims" to put down between 380-390 (I have no idea if he means to the wheels or to the crank but Im guessing after this race its not to the wheels...). All I know is he is running 20lbs and has a different turbo and a different cam. We had been talking and bsing for a few weeks about racing and finally tonight we got to close together...

Race 1: From a 40 roll - 3 beeps - My timing was perfect and I downshifted right on the 3rd beep - He starts in 3rd and my car downshifts to 2nd (A4). He pulls out one car on me but I gain half of it back as he shifts to 4th. He slowly starts to edge out about 1/4 of a car but when he shifts to fifth we are neck and neck. Just as I am about to pass him a car enters onto 95 and I didn't feel like taking any chances of this new cars sliding over 3 lanes so I hit the brakes. End result, around 120mph me out by 1/4 of a car.

Race 2: From a 45 roll - 3 beeps - Same start for gears, this time my timing sucked (I guess I was too hyped up from the first race) and I didn't step on it until the 3rd beep and he immediately pulled about 1 1/2 cars on me. He continued into 4th and made it about an even 2 cars. This time no cars pulled out in front of us and we took it all the way to about 145mph. Once he shifted into 5th gear I slowly reeled him in and was at his back door when we shut down.

That was it for the runs for now because I had to get off at Yamato before I got too far away from home, didn't feel like driving too far away and we were also coming up to some traffic. End result I felt pretty good. If he has what he claims to have I don't think I can complain about keeping up with an evo like that! I will let you guys know if we race again, he wants to do it again from a lower roll and from a dig (I told him its not worth watching me spin as he puts a bus length on me before I grab traction)...

Good deaths, thats a gutsy place to run. Isn't that the area where the fines are increased on 95? Cops are all over the place there.

Nice runs. I remember when mine just had bolt-ons. I used to dread going against any fbody because 90 percent of them around here at least were cammed, and i would get drug after 80mph or so.

Then there were the c5's, and it just got worse from there.

Good times.

Going north in between Palmetto and Yamato on I95. Sometimes there is a cop around glades but we didn't start until we were almost at the glades overpass. Increased fines starts closer to Linton I believe... I used to live off Gateway so I learned pretty quick where all the cops were when I drove from Palmetto to Gateway almost every day...

O trust me I know. Even from the roll I didn't even start to reel him in until we passed triple digit speeds. I told him it wasn't even worth the race going from a dig and he knows its true. I will probably let him have one from a dig just to show him I know how bad I will lose. I have a feeling a 20mph roll will be in his favor as well since the damn low mph pull from the EVO is sick.

It will be under contruction as soon as I can finish saving up the money needed. I contacted MASPORT a month ago about a cam and decided that I didn't want to spend the money on the cam until I could afford a stall as well. Other problem is something is wrong with my rearend and until I get that looked at I can't risk adding any more power. So, hopefully by the end of this year I will be ready for him again. If I don't go with the Cam/Stall than I am going to look at doing a 150 shot through MASPORT. Many options to consider, just need to get the last of the funds together!

No shame in those losses. That Evo sounds like it's been modified properly. That shift from 4th to 5th at about 115mph-120mph (depending on the redline) is a dead spot on the Evo's gear ratios. It's all about getting to 100mph with these cars and 5th is more of a cruising hear. Ask for a race from 100mph to 150mph next time...crazy I know...and you're guaranteed victory.

I think what he was saying is that there is a police officer in his area that responded on here so he better watch his *** if he decides to run there again! It was a free setup spot for the police to catch others!

Hey dumbass I was only trying to help him out. You think I would of posted my job if I was secretly trying to find out where people race. I could freakin care less where he or anyone else street races. I haven't written a ticket in over a year, but if I met you I would make an exception. Your a moron if you think cops are trolling these types of websites trying to see where sober people are street racing one time. We have better things to do. He needs to worry about FHP because they will **** you in a second. I should know they wrote me two tickets. So go back under your slimey rock, idiot.

Thats good to know not all cops are D*cks. FPD/CHP sees you burn rubber high speed run or even if you rev your engine They take your car away for 30 days Exhibition of speed.
