It is nice to get paid for what you know, not what you do.

I troubleshoot and repair controls and instrumentation for a paper mill. If it isn't broken, I get to sit around until it does. Can't do preventative maintenance on control systems while the machinery is actually running.

No union here. We don't need one.

Now that you know what I do, tell us, how's the job turning burgers at the local McDonald's treating you? They promote you to the frier, yet?

 

So your proud about sitting around and not doing anything and still getting payed for it? Thats real nice. Actually being a general foreman for a construction company in MICHIGAN ( where the economy is worse than everywhere else because of the democratic governor) is actually quite nice. Making $75,000 a year isnt bad seeing how everybody else in this state makes dick. But im sure when your laid off sometime soon, i'll keep a position open for you as a manual labor worker. Not bad money, just gotta have a little muscle, and willing to actually work to earn money

I don't think I could handle a pay cut that huge.

I'm not worried about layoffs. I actually have a job skill that, not only makes real money, but can't be done by just anyone with a pulse.

As for getting paid for sitting around? It means that I do my job well enough that the machinery doesn't break. And, I have earned my dues. If you knew more than how to hit a nail with a hammer, you would know that working in industrial maintenance isn't exactly "lightwork".
