Another local Mustang kill.
In 96 I had an LT1 car that ran low 12's at over a mile high (Denver and Pueblo) probably an eleven second car and it didn't have a power adder which for that time it was a pretty fast car. Is that faster than some here sure. Does it count now, nope. When you line that **** up the bullshit stops. The first one there wins end of story. I've lost to older cars and cars that I should of pounded but they were set up better. That excuse doesn't hold water.
I understood what you meant. It just that if you are going to play the game you can't play it with the caveat that if the technology is better you are disadvantaged. Racing is racing. There are plenty of first gen guys that would monkey stomp the LSX but they don't look at the disadvantages they just build a better mousetrap. I wasn't trying to bash on you I was just pointing out a flaw in the logic you used.

I just saw an old video of a road test of the 69 Charger 500 with a Hemi. It ran 14.1 in the quarter. A hemi car that stock ran a 14. Technology does make a huge difference in the performance of a car. On slicks I'm sure the Charger would be a LOT faster in the quarter mile but in street trim, on the tires from the 60's, they really aren't that impressive. Just pointing out that some of the cars that are worshipped as great performers weren't all that impressive in stock trim and that technology makes a big difference.

You suck! LOL. I was lucky my dad was an old school racer that knew how to make a car fly. My car was fast because my dad knew how. I just spent the money and payed attention. There was no street cars that could touch my car in my town and very few race cars. I liked it.
I know that but it put technology in perspective. Most think a Hemi car is fast but in reality when they were built they weren't that impressive in stock trim.
Ok, but you gotta look at tire technology also. The stock tires of the late 60's aren't even close to the stock tires of today. Yea, the Charger on slicks would be faster....but even on today's street tires it'd run a helluva lot better. There's a "factory" type race class for Hemi's, very limited in what mods they can make...and they're under 10's.

Those old muscle cars were fast as hell...... IN THEIR DAY. they still hang with alot of stock sports cars out there now. just like when LS1 fbods came out they were crazy fast for bone stock. now theres a freakin Cadillac out there that will tear half of us apart like pink speeding ticket's. Compared to modern day, new cars are lighter, more powerful, definatly handle better, etc but apply a concept to developing technology kinda like inflation does with time and bingo. there all the same.

Most 2v cars suck. There are a few out there that run good but they are few and far in between. My guess is this guy is going to sell his car now. I've had that happen before, outrun somebody and then a for sale sign was in the window. Good ****.

The only reason the older cars are faster is because they have room to put bigger motors in the engine bay. But cars now are making big block power with little small blocks.
One thing I'd like to know is why does it seem every old (64-72) block you find seems to already been bored 0.030" over? Why was this such a popular thing back then?
