Don't the 05+ GT's run like 13.5 @ 104MPH?? Under ideal conditions of course.

Maybe they did. But my dads and a few of my friends GTs struggled to break into 13s and when they did it was the high 13s.

But as someone stated earlier they fall flat on there face on the top end.

Well why didn't you say so lol...if don't live in America and you're not American, than I can see why you don't care either way.

most of the 05 Gt could barely break under 13. i seen countless run 13.7 to 13.8 and couldnt break over 102 mph. they changed something with the engines in the 07 models i belive. but to put it in perspective. back when i ran a 13.0 @107mph a 05 with some suspension mods/ intake/ exhaust and a 75shot of nitrous could only match me. 13.0@107. we ran identical times.

back to the OP though. when you look at there competitors there probly the quickest bargain family sedan. i know the accords are close to if not quicker in performance. or used to be.

wes your mentallity is what gives us a bad name. REP the american brands because we are american? thats what your spouting. thats just silly. GM i think in the last 10-15 years has been making some of the best quality cars in terms of engines/longevity but American companies for about 30 years made some of the biggest pieces of crap ever. from the 70's through the 90's there was no such thing as dependability in cars from GM,dodge or ford.

American brands still have a ways to go before they can legitly take the crown of being the best overall brand. but they have slowly been doing that other than the financial woes.

Its been proven that late model American cars are just as well built, if not better, than their Japanese counterparts. We live in America, if you have a choice between 2 equivelent cars, one Jap and one US, why would you buy the car from another country??

There is no longer a "far way to go", look no further than the new Malibu, Equinox, Traverse, Silverado, Fusion, Taurus, F-150, Edge, CTS, ect. They are all in the top of their class, better than their japanese competition.

People wonder why this country is broke, its because everyone is driving around in Camrys and Accords thinking they are the best thing since sliced bread. Far from the truth.

If somebody goes from making crap to making something that appears to be good, most people are going to wait a few years and see if the cars live up to the hype. The Silverado/F-150 excepted (trucks have always been the Big 3's strong point), every other car you listed is basically new from the ground up as of 2-3 years ago.

I know that. But given the recent reviews and positive ratings, there is no reason to buy jap competition over American cars anymore.

At least the Malibu and Fusion don't have their throttle pedals stick and brakes fail killing their drivers and passengers

Korean cars are really moving up in quality as well. And for the prices they seem like great alternatives to people that just want to go from point a to point b. And hey no recalls either, and great quality as of a few years already that has been recognized and the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on top is sweet.

So given that american, japanese, and korean cars are basically the same quality why not choose the one that saves you a few grand?

I've seen ones run 13.2 in less than ideal conditions.

You are either at a sucky elevation or they aren't decent drivers. 13.5 is the average time for a stock S197. I've heard of 13.1 times, but the fastest I've seen was 13.2 in a stock S197.

I am not sure where you got that info. There has never been a S197 that weren't mid 13 cars.

NOW that isn't saying people that can't drive them weren't getting sucky numbers.

I saw someone on pastime with a custom exhaust on their 08 GT that ran a 14.8.

Anyone that can drive can get a 13.5 or better from a S197 GT.

Don't be fooled by the Koreans. They have really stepped up their game in terms of exterior design and interior quality, but their engines, drivetrains, and chassis components are nowhere near top quality. Basically they copy the Japanese and Germans, and thyen figure out how to make the parts/designs cheaper (lower quality) so they can sell a similarly equipped car at a lower price.

I heard that TrickFlow is making heads for them Camry's now: should make them a legitimate contender with the LS1 Fbodies!

Easier to take off your fuel rails when your car is parked before the fire happens then to make sudden abnormal emergency changes in split seconds lol

O snap, just noticed Ke^in ruining the thread with more Mustang BS. Dude...they are high 13 low 14 second cars. GTFO.

That reminds me, I remember a recall on my 1994 Formula to replace or move a fuel line because of fires also. I still wouldn't buy a rice bucket.
