I will say that it seems like the vette guys are notorious for calling a car stock that really isn't.

Exactly! You seem to be the only one that understands where im coming from. I was just saying IMO it ran very strong for SO CALLED stock auto compared to the OP's mods even the with race being that short.

Most Vette guys dont respect to Firebirds/ Camaros therefore they dont want to lose to them so they will say there stock even if it has 1 or 2 bolt ons and if they lose there excuse will be well you were modded. Ive seen a guy that had a c5 and had 4.10s ( his only mod) and still telling ppl it was stock. Never understood why Vette guys act like its impossible to lose to a F-body seeing its the same Drivetrain as an F-body. (excluding the c5z) I guess most Vette guys feel that way because they pay more money for it than a F-body most of the time (c5s are getting pretty cheap) and also that its supposed to be Chevy's top dog so which is stupid.

 

Usually guys are terrified of a early 70s Chevelle looping with big meats on it thats why lol

 

I found a white c5 on the interstate goin from dallas to houston...I know he wanted to run cuz i got next to him in the fast lane then he started speeding up matching my speed...I wanted to run him soooo bad!! but my dad was in the car being a little baby

Next time i saw a C5 it was a manual, loud, and some coolguy-badass driving with the music blasting pulled up next to me at a light...too bad i was in my dads slobalt that day...beginning to see a pattern here!?

haha I guess...my car is so quiet though I usually hear other cars over me when racing. I got a lot more races back when it was blue/white stripes and pretty. Ever since I went satin black people disappear when it's time to lay rubber.

I hear the new 5.0 was based around this same concept. Ford and Chevy both detune the higher gear ratio cars so they lose and make the better geared cars look better.

2 teeth jump in cars is worth 5-6 cars on a manual and 3-4 on an auto

Im basing it off what you said it your original post. You said it was an older guy and the car was "STOCK" like you knew for a fact it was like he told you or yelled out the window etc... The way you worded it in your 1st post made it seem that way. Now your saying you dont know if it had gears or not. So basically you assumed that it was stock.

You ask me how can i make that statement in saying what gears it had if you never found out? If you said its Stock then stock means stock which means nothing is untouched meaning it would have STOCK gears also right...

I never said anything about a F-Bomb being slow because its not a Vette. Now your assuming again! If i thought that i wouldve been defending the Vette like many Vette owners would and coming up with every excuse but im not the type to that thinks Vette this Vette that Vette is god etc .. lol.. Did you read anything i said in any other of the posts. That means that Vette guys should respect F-bodies because they have the same drivetrain meaning they can easily be made to go faster than a vette so i dont see why Vette guys are so uptight when losing to an F-body! Um no not on of those sorry and that wasnt what i was getting at. I know the OP car isnt slow. Mid 12's at 112 isnt slow especially with that 2.0 60ft. I know what bolt-ons/ tuned/ gears F-body is capable of and trust me its not slow.

In conclusion I think the Vette wasnt stock even it if it just had gears or if it had just a few bolt ons. I say that because those stock auto c5s are turds from rolls and if it was bone stock (which i dont think it was) then OPs car wouldve slaughtered it as his car seems to pull hard. Its so easy for ppl to get into a race and think a car is stock but it might not be. Even if a person tells you that there car is stock still doesnt mean its true. So basically what im getting at is I dont believe that the c5 was stock thats all im saying.

 

Did you totally skip my explanation on why he didn't pull like he could on a stock car? The outcome makes perfect sense.

 

I will conceed that I said it was stock, but I based that off the fact that if a car is modded, most (not all though) will put an exhaust on the car. I know I wouldn't beving doing CAI/tune/gears on a Corvette and not touching the exhaust. I think lemons hit the nail on the head though. You also mention that it could have other gears than 2.73s, which would definitely help...

Chevelles vary. A lot.

In street trim with a mostly full tank mine weighs 3800# with me in it (135#). I pull my tools and 12" sub at the track which should put me close to 3725# raceweight. Car weighed 3860 with me and around half a tank when it was a 350sbc/700r4 with all the a/c stuff on it.

There are tons of stock interior Chevelles with iron headed big blocks weighing in just a tick or two under 4k.

My buddies 69 is stripped a lot and it's down around 3200. You just never know.

 

I think I know how much my own car weighs thankyou. A sb car might weigh 3500 but mine with a big block, full interior, full tank of gas and me in it weighs 4000lbs.
