lol what does that mean? just because its awd doesnt mean to skip the dig thats actually what id recommend. awd is alot harder to launch than rwd... id recommend running him from a dig and build up you stock stall by foot breaking it but dont just smash it the gas to the floor just build it up to about 1800 to 2000 rpms and let it go from there. does he have two step?

^ I agree,I don't know man,even if his car is set up wrong,its still a mid 12 car,and I don't think your there yet.but its your call ,but imo I would set your car up a lil more for racing before you start running 500 dollar runs,but then again its just money,

 

If the DSM has any sort of launch control (and is really a mid 12 car) he will destroy the OP's SS from a dig.

Even without it, with a halfway decent launch the DSM will be in front at least through 1st gear.


Assuming the Talon is a manual, if he has a chipped ECU, he probably has 2-step launch control.

This means there is a rev limiter at 5000rpm or so when the car is stopped, allowing for boost to be built up (and the car being at the proper RPM) before launch.

 

You should have took full advantage when he was trying to mess around on the street without a wager. If you hit it and weren't pulled or weren't impressed from what you saw then you would have a better idea going into it. Odds are if hes wagering 500 then hes got a bit more done than hes going to let you in on. Then again, if hes screaming through traffic trying to show off he could just be another ricer douche trying to bluff. What did you think when he hit it? Idk about you but if i see a car take off i can usually tell if its gonna be close or an easy kill.

If you run him do not do a dig period especially if your having spin issues. 10 Roll would be perfect to start w/o chance of spinning and he's not building much if any boost. Lastly you should probably set a cut off mph bc him being a turbo car it very well may walk around you up top.

 

2 step for turbo cars is usually so the can build boost of the line, but any car can take 2 step just to help make consistent launch's. i dont really know what to tell you man. thats just what i would have done. because from a roll he's probably just going to break boost on you and its going to be just as bad. id recommend doing those few parts you where going to put on those should give you a fighting chance. but im sure you can do it just have to bring your A game. FYI let us now how you did.

 

I've been building Mitsus for long enough, and i've never heard of a T-20 being used, because it's smaller than stock.

It's probably a 20G, which is a common upgrade and could be fast if this moron had a clue how to support and tune it. The fact that he is breaking things with a mid sized turbo at low boost levels says it all. That motor would take everything a 20G could dish out for a long time if he had a clue how to tune. Race him, but not for cash.

Run him from a low roll, about 10mph is the worst imaginable spot for a turbo I4.

i had some room when we were messing around and when i was able to hit it i pulled on him but backed off so i dont hit some1 infront of me, and he had an open lane i went behind him and 'to me' i was puling hard. then when i was getting closer he went off a exit and said next day at work he smoked me.

when we were driving all i heard was his wastegate and he punched it couple times and i was just cruising at this moment and he really didnt pull like a mid 12 car would.

but the funny thing is i just remembered this. when he got the job at my work his car had a 30day tag on it lol so he didnt build it up.

yes its a manual and about 181k on it.

i really think hes bsing because i told him ill give him a car and race him in my friends evo and hes like no.

Did you hear the turbo spool, bov, or the wastegate. All sound very different. If he was running an external wastegate odds are he is running a bigger than stock turbo and pushing more than stock boost. Should have no poblem being a mid 12 car.
