What year viper was it... i know the 2005 style and earlier is not all that impressive.. When my car was stock one pulled me by 1 1/2 to 2 cars and I beat another (driver mod) by 1/2 car.. the 2008+ are the 600hp monsters though..

I am thinking there needs to be some classes addressing bhp vs. rwhp and peak hp/torque vs. hp/torque curves in this thread.

The 03-06s trapp 118-124 mph in the quarter... 121 mph on average
The 08-10 trapp 125-131 mph in the quarter... 128 on average
Huge differance
But im in agrreance... Low 120s trapps for the older srt10s isnt a big deal

Remember that these hp numbers are all bhp in a car weighing in at just under 3,500#. Their straight line performance is similar to many of the cars in this forum and, with a 6-speed and the same chance of driver error or lack of desire to "beat on it", some of our cars can equally match these $90k beasts.

Garner. Theirs some confusion over this so ill explain.
Tne 2003 srt10 debuted with 500 hp. But in late 2005 their was a standard engine hp system that all american cars were held to.
Most cars stayed the same. Some went a little up and some went a little down.
The 03-06 viper engines that were origionally sold as 500 hp engines were found to be under rated and all their hp rateings were upped to 510 hp.
Only differan e between a 05 vert and 06 coupe is the coupe weighs 70 pounds more

Brian you are absolutely right. I think a 460 rwhp fbody can run with a 03 viper and a 490 rwhp fbody can run with a c6z06. Both attainable numbers na with the right cam heads and bolt ons with a great tuner.
Now running with a 08 viper or zr1??????? Im thinking heads cam bolt ons and a 75 shot????

Lets also remember that the SRT10's, Z06's and ZR1's performance numbers are all with professional drivers, perfect tune (sometimes even higher than stock tunes), best track prep and utlimate weather conditions. All in all, these are hi-tech, very, very expensive machines and our 500+ rwhp/500+rwt cars can run with them. That is worth a few "attaboys" and we shouldn't be intimidated. Those cars with mods, however, is an entirely different story.
