Random run in with a 350Z

My friend tweaked my transmission tune a little and we went out for a little drive to test out the new changes. Almost as soon as we left his place, a white 350Z got behind us. I'm not sure what year it was, but I would guess 2006+ based on the wheels. I also have no idea what the mods were since I never really got the chance to talk to him.
Anyway, I move into the left lane and he pulls up next to me. I downshift to 3rd (would have been a little low in 2nd gear at that speed) and he punches it. I hit it right after, but he gets about a car out before I stop his pull and hold him there. We slow up and try it again, with similar results (me starting a gear too high).
A little ways up the road we catch a red light and he says that he usually turns off here, but he'll stay on and we can go on green. The light changes and I figured he'd spin, which he did, so I eased off the line and once I thought he had traction I hit it and walked away pretty decent, putting a bunch of cars on him.
He followed us up onto the highway and we got next to each other again, going 45-50 mph. I downshifted to 2nd and he honked it off (always nice when that happens without having to explain it to someone). We hit it and I stayed in it until 125-130 mph, with him way back in my mirror. I don't know at what point he let off, but it was a pretty one sided race. It's also possible that he missed a shift or something, but I don't know.
We got off the same exit and I pulled into a gas station, waving him to follow, but he never did. I would imagine that it was stock or very close to it. Not sure if it was the newer one with the 306 hp engine or the older 287 hp model.
Overall it was a fun race, especially for a random encounter. I imagine that after the first two races were close, with him winning (due to me starting in the wrong gear) and then I beat him bad the last two, there's probably a thread somewhere about how a 350Z lost when a G8 sprayed him, haha.
As far as the trans tune, the car feels great and gives a little wiggle when shifting 2nd now, with the temps dropping a bit. I think I'm going to need tires very soon or the colder winter temps are going to have me all over the road when it shifts

Mods can actually make those 350s slower. Good run. He's def no match for you. A well driven HR 350 can see middish 13s, but still a ways off from hanging with a bolt on, tuned G8, lol. If I had a 350, I'd just spray the damn thing it and call it good!

Yea, I'm not 100% sure either. My wife has an 07 G35 with the HR engine, and every mod I've researched for it shows very little to negative gains. They finally came out with a $600 CAI that adds a whopping 9 claimed HP. And an X-pipe and cat-back for $1k that is supposed to wake it up a tad. Best thing (especially if automatic) is a tune. From there you'd better be happy with the way it is or go FI.
