A focus kept up
Well let me spell it out for you then both are fwd leading them to have the same launch/traction issues. And the op was surprised that a focus could keep up. So i thought adding some insight about turbo fwd cars may be appreciated. And ps if a fwd car is running 12.5 or so in the 1/4 and you're rwd and decide to roll race you'll need a mid 11second car to

Obviously some big missunderstanding fwd 60ft times are always horrible in comparrison to rwd. I did say from a ROLL too.... so here are 2 time slips from a cobalt (oops sorry thats a bad word here) fwd left side, right is rwd. I did the math on the 1/8 to 1/4 times and speed increases from the 1/8th to 1/4
fwd 1/8 time 9.1159
1/4 time 13.7313
time 4.61sec. .
rwd 1/8 time 7.475
1/4 time 11.635
time 4.16 sec
fwd 1/8 speed 84.76
1/4 speed 109.12
speed increase 24.36
rwd 1/8 speed 94.58
1/4 speed 118.90
speed increase 24.32
I did also say a 12.5 second fwd would keep up with a mid 11.5 second rwd car, again to clarify from a roll. the fwd is as you can see 13.7 second one which kinda gained the same amount of speed over the last 1/8.

Both cars picked up ~24mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4. That's about average when talking about cars that trap 100mph+. Not sure what you're getting at here. Everybody knows that generally FWD cars don't hook as well, and that ETs don't tell the whole story. I know you're trying to teach people something, but we already know...

Those are some shitty slips to make direct comparisons to. One is a 2.3 60', and the other is a 1.7. The trap speed difference is phenomenal. My bet would be for the rwd 118+mph trap car vs the 109 trap.
You can throw the quarter mile calculator crap out the window when it comes to roll racing, there's other factors involved, but trap speed tells a large majority of the story, and in those slips, if that 118+ mph car is rwd, it'll eat that fwd car with no issues. A 9-10mph difference in the traps is huge.
Cobalt isn't a bad word here. I'd just suggest really looking into what you're trying to 'teach' people who generally may know more then you do. You wouldn't need a mid 11 second rwd car to 'keep up' with a mid 12 fwd. Are you kidding yourself? That sounds so bias its downright funny.
