Default Any suggestions??

Not to beat a dead horse but I may be running an '01/'02 Lightning tomorrow. He is pretty much all stock (intake maybe). What are my chances and how should I approach it?

Thanks in advance...

You shouldn't have a problem with him at all, as long as he is stock... Just dont screw up your launch too badly...

Not too sure about the blower, I thought they all had them? From what i have heard, they usually run low 14s stock... sometimes break into the 13's...

They got the blower in 99. 01+ they got a little more power as well. MM&FF got a 13.34 in a stock L but high 13s is the norm. My friend was able to pull 13.40s-50s in his somehow.

If he's stock like you're thinking you should put the hurting on him. If he's got pulleys and chips and exhaust and intake and drags etc. Then things could get tricky or even nasty for you. If he's stock though don't worry too much just drive like you would any other race. Good luck.

But just watch out for the ones that say "it is only a chip, pulley and tires truck" those are the trouble makers for most ls1 owners that are near stock.

yeah... 99 was the first year of the blown 5.4's, making 365... dynoing around 340 bc ford underated them like the cobras and other svt products... anyways, those usually ran 13.8's or so stock and the 01-03's came w/ 385 and running 13.4's-13.6's. w/ chip, k&n, pulley(upper and lower), tires... mid 12's... then it gets worse w/ port & polished blower, or even kb on it... but if he is stock... w/ your mods and a good launch... you have the race in the bag

the thing is with a lightning, you wouldnt know if they were stock or not unless they told you. the biggest deal is putting the pulleys to increase boost and a chip. Would you ever know, biggest problem for them is traction on the take off. If their running slicks a stock lightning can usually deep into the 12 and with major modifications I have seen 11 and with a forged bottom end and KB supercharger upgrade pull easy 10's. just alittle info.

yea a stock lightning is no problem, its those modifyed ones you have to look out for. Ive seen mid 12's at the track before, but that was the track, prob be a bit slower on the street. Good Luck.

Run him to 120mph and you've got the easy win. The lightnings have gobs of horsepower and even more torque, but the aerodynamics of a brick wall.
