Cammed Firebird vs E85 SRT4
#5
My full bolt on, stock turbo 05 SRT would spike 24-26 and hold 20-22 to redline with an adj. wastegate. Then I let Buscher do the head, HKS cams, RC injectors, extrude honed intake, twin disc clutch, DSS axles, and a GT35R. The thing was practically useless on the street. Had more fun with the stock turbo. Beat plenty of bolt on, cam only Camaros and T/As with the stock turbo though.

It was a good race but I beat em every time. OP is cammed, I figured he'd have him but anything can happen.

But even then, one would expect he'd have done better up top.
How'd we do?

Also Adam, did I tell you it's H/C/forged LS3 with a 150 shot in about a week for the Gto

is you don't believe me then take a datalog via dsp and you will be surprised that you are nowhere near 20.
Highest psi at 6000rpms internal wg was around 17 psi.(datalogs only) no boost gauge readings.
Theres a thread on srt forums where people provided datalogs and out of 200+ datalogs , only one held 17 psi. 99% held 14-15 psi.
Now if you convert into a external wastegate and have a 15 psi+ spring in the wastegate then you can hold around 20 with a decent spike.I have datalogs of a stock turbo external wastegate spiking and holding 28 psi.tuned by mindmelt.(20 psi spring)
Another one was by a guy named 707 who held 24 psi on stock turbo with a 28 psi spike. Also external wastegate(15 psi spring)
holding 20 psi to redline is not helping at all.
Don't look at dyno numbers, look at trap speeds.
Fastest srt4 stock turbo e85 trap is over 119 mph, internal wastegate 25 psi spike and 16 hold. E.T-11.83
Second one stock turbo 110 oct internal wastegate 25 spike 14 hold went 11.6 with a trap speed of 118.which is our fastest stock turbo srt4 in the world as of right now
Now we have a stock turbo external wastegate e85 spiking 24 and holding 20 psi trapping 117.8.
Trap speed will tell you if you are making power or not Porting the exhaust manifold minght help a lil but I just showed you that holding more psi to redline is not giving you a better top end.Dyno numbers don't mean anything.some mustang dynos read low, some don't..
