STIs are from japan too. i don't understand.
i dunno, i have a lot of respect for some of the engines to come out of japan. honda in particular has some impressive engineers at their beck and call. i don't care what you say, getting 200hp out of a 2.0L, 4 cylinder engine, then making it idle well and slapping a 6-year warentee on it is pretty good in my book, even if i wouldn't want one of those engines in MY car. as for mitsubishi, DSM engines and the EVO engines arn't any slouch either. they were engineered to hold boost, and they do so well. the 4-bolt DSM blocks are good up to around 800hp, which is pretty freakin high for a 4banger. nissan has a lot of potential with the 350z if they would just bite the bullet and twin turbo it like they should have done in the first place. the same goes for mazda and the rx-8/next gen rx-7... or at the very least put a tri-rotor engine in.
In my opinion, Japan has some great ideas and some great engineers, they just often go down the slightly wrong path with them.
