That's always the story until it's a GM car doing it, then it's the norm. I've heard those rumors too and nothing was ever proven, the car didn't have a pulley swap or nitrous. Funny thing, I can't find a single magazine that was allowed to run performance tests on the ZR1, they all had to parrot the GM specs.

As for those hero runs, they were in negative DA, makes a huge difference in a blown car.
