They take a beating but dont listen to much. They are a great platform; handles damn well(with the right suspension), very rigid chassis, comfortable, and they respond well to mods. Recipe is simple; light wheels, great exhaust, cammed and or full boltons and youre up for a nice ride. They have a bad rep because too many plp bought em for style only. Bad drivers with go-slow mods(huge and heavy wheels with body kits/stickers/lambo doors/ big *** sub woofers, etc).

They have big brakes, unlike cheap *** 5.0 brakes, so wheels cost a lot. How many Mustangs are rolling on drag wheels versus 5th gen?...right there its a 80-100lbs shaving!

Johnny,

Your comment about go slow mods may me think of this and lol. See if I can make y'all laugh.
So I see another guy in my neighborhood , the one who claims he bought a Scat Pack Challenger, at the gas station down the road this weekend. This guy talks a TON of **** and doesn't seem too knowledge. All he talks about is long tube headers for some reason (as a matter of fact my next door neighbor and I refer to him as "long tube headers") so I generally avoid him. Anyway, he is gassing up his new Challenger so I thought I would have a look. First off, it's not a Scat Pack as claimed. It has a shaker hood but the 5.7 so I give him a little **** for that but we are right off of the freeway so I ask him if he wants to go run em down the freeway for ***** and giggles.
Dud tells me he can't because his stickers are falling off and he has to let the glue dry. I got no damn clue what the hell he is talking about. I guess he saw the look on my face and points to the tires. This cat glued some BF Goodrich white lettering on his tires. I have never seen anything like it but sure enough he pulled off and one of them was just flappin' around in the wind. Tire stickers? Ever see that before?

hahah Mr. Long tube headers!!

Well I have heard of! I thought at 1st (seriously) that they were nice! That was 1.5 years ago. I think it looks kinda lil rice now...I think it belongs only on very well done vehicules.

heres a link https://www.tirestickers.com/

Flying sticker mod aint gonna hurt performance, but its gonna mess up your drag coefficient.

It was a1st for me. I had never heard of or seen tire stickers but he had white "BF Goodrich" stickers on his non BF Goodrich tires. Guess he was going for a certain look.
Yeah, exactly....Mr. Long Tube Headers. I swear every time this guy looks at a car it's, "Do you have long tube headers?" or "You should get long tube headers?" or "My other friend has one of those but he had long tube tube headers." Every. Single. Time. Nice enough guy but WTF is the hang up with LTH? Lol. So now whenever we talk about him we just call him "long tube headers"

408,

Yup. A few month ago he was giving me **** about me building up an "out dated and over rated" LS1. Talking about how from the factory it makes no power compared to the 5.7 liter that was in his SRT8 Magnum he had at the time. He had long tube headers, exhaust, CAI , a tune, and "was pushing 500 whp". I just shook my head and offered to run him once I was done. Whipped his *** on the same back road that I ran the GT350 on. He kind of shut the f**" up after that and went to talking **** about my neighbors 911 as a general practice now.

Alot of people I think would be surprised what a good running h/c/I ls1 is capable of. Looks like this guy is one lol.

Wow. I wanted those stickers. But NO WAY IN HELL would I pay for a sticker than cost almost as much as a tire.

Most don't want to drop that much cash for a drag pack on a 5th gen. That's why you see more 5.0's with them than 5th gens. One member here went with 15" rears on his 5th gen and he spent thousands. May have been Rhino.

5gen chassis especially 1le is to good to make it only go straight with a drag pak.

Its not too bad with Weld RT S but its 450$ per wheels. You can run Race Star in the front. Race Star is coming with a rear set that "will clear" the stock calipers, this time. I got the set for dirt cheap(750$ I think) but cancelled the rear wheels because you have to grind the calipers.
Waiting for their new 17x10.5 ..

The handling is just incredible. Best handling car I have ever been in. Its handles like my brother GTR.

Buddy at work just bought a gt350 and I took it for a spin. I haven't driven a stick in quite a few years but I was impressed with how easy you could bang through the gears. It also has some sort of "track" setting where it has line lock and a few other changes that make it setup for 1/4 mile racing. I did run into a guy the other day with a fbo 5.0 who made 520rwhp using the gt350 intake so I'd imagine the gt350s would make alittle more with all the goodies.
