first corvette kill
first corvette kill had my first corvette kill the other night..he had a headstart too. We were sittin at a light in from of the texas tech campus here and he started revving his bone stock car at me....so i lit into the pedal a little and scared the birds out of the trees to my left. So when the light turned green i saw him dive into the gas so i followed puttin to pedal to the floor w/ my a4 in 3rd. It seemed almost too easy reeling him in like that. He gave a thumbs up and we both went on about our buisniness, two respectful ls1 owners appreciating each others toys.

Jeez, I can't believe that guy even raced the stock Vette coupe against another sportscar. It's a PIG!! 
It's got a 2.73 rear diff and a 1400 RPM torque converter. That's why I ripped those POS out of my car and replaced them with some good stuff.
Hell, I don't street race and I changed those parts out as some of my first mods!

Sounds like both are 4 speed trannies. Changing the labeling on the shifter really doesn't change anything internally.
Are you sure your TA "D" on the shifter doesn't have a circle around it (which is also a symbol for Overdrive)?
Check your owner's manual to be sure. There should be a description of your tranny's gear selection choices.
