2002? SS goes down to ricer.
The other day i was on the interestate and traffic was light. I merged on the highway and saw an SS a few car lengths ahead of me. It had some graphics on it. Not like ricer graphics, but some graphics that looked like they came from GM.
Anyways, I pull up next to him and give him a tiny blow off valve salute. He doesnt bite, he has a passenger and so do i. I continue on my way at 75 ish about three cars ahead of him. then about two minutes later i see his front end lift and he flys by me. i look at my fiance and i say OH ITS OWN! so i gear down and follow him. I pass him at a leisurely 70 mph again and i think he's not going to race me...but i notice his front end lifting again and i see him gaining on me. Im ready this time 4th gear at 70 puts me perfect for instant onset of boost, and some gear to wind out. I step on it and he nags for a second then i start to pull and i put probably 2 or more cars on him by the time i was hitting 130ish. I slowed down to make my exit and he flys by at WOT to let me hear his exhaust note. I guess he was mad he got pulled on by a ricer.
BTW i trap 109 now.

I have an awd car and I highly doubt this happened. i have a talon instead of an evo 8 but after 80 or 3rd gear it gets SLOW.
Now I dont have 21 psi or any of that crap either, but I think id still have a hard time doing a roll from such high mph against an ls1 especially.
But who knows, anything can happen....to many variables in racing.

actually trap speed is a pretty good indicator of what type of HP you are putting down etc... if anything my trap speed would be LOWER due to AWD because of quicker 60 foots.
comparing two trap speeds is a pretty good way to find out who would come out on top in a highway speed race from a roll.
but like I said theres a lot of variables, maybe he wasnt comfertable going that fast so he wasnt racing all out, maybe his car was running like crap (like my talon) or he didnt shift into the proper gear, ect....or maybe he just lost the race.

keep in mind that your talon doesnt have the same topend as an EVO. According to most of my DSM friends, the talon is way way slower in the topend than the evo.
I see no reason for excuses.
as I do believe anything can happen on the street, i find it highly unlikely u pulled him up top like that, your 1/4 time is that low b/c of awd, stock ls1's as was stated run anywhere 103-108 or so, an ls1 running high 12's would be around 110 or more....good kill nonetheless

yes my 1/4 mile time is low because of AWD. Regardless of that fact, it is always a good indicator of power to look at your trap speed. If stock LS1 or ss traps 103-108 then theres really no question about the outcome. I trap 109 from a standstill. Im not doubting that an ls1 running high 12's would be in the 110 mph trap range, but we arent talking about a high 12 second ls1. we are talking about a stock (i assume) SS versus a BPU EVO.
Also, had i not had bald tires last time i ran at the track my ET probably would have been 12.6ish.

I can trap 105 only using 1st and the top of 2nd gear
A4 2:73's How many torque multipliers did you need to use to trap nearly 110?
I'll bet at least 4
I know there are other factors like weight, etc etc etc...
