So tonight on my way home from work I pull along side a beautiful sonic blue cobra. The two of us were going about 35 so I moved my lips very blatently saying nice car. He smiles and burps the throttle at me a couple times and looks at me questioningly. Not being one to back down, and being one who loves the way cobras sound I give him a burp back. I start the honk and on three floor it. He immediately as I expected starts to pull away, but I swear I could have counted a second every time he shifted. His shifting kept me in the race and at 100mph I had his headlights barely behind the front of my car. We slow back down (45 zone) and he asks what I have done, after telling him I ask him what he had. Apparently his car was completely factory, and he had only been driving it for the past two weeks after buying it used from a friend. I offered him a rematch for next month, figure by then he'll be able to drive that thing away from me.

 

Nice... havent got the chance to race an 02 + Cobra but sounds pretty close...

 

I haven't seen many of the 03+ Cobra's around here.

 

I'm jealous of you guys.
Out where i live at here in BF Kansas, I'm one of the handfull of f-bods, and a ****-ton of v6 mustangs =(

 

Yea same here, not many F-Bodies or Cobras in the area but an INSANE amount of rice mobiles with gigantic spoilers and fart cans...must have been awesome racing the cobra, I love the feeling when you know theres someone next to you who is probably a little faster and your heart starts pounding knowing you have to drive your absolute best to win, no better feeling in the world. Nice race though and BTW what mods do you have?

 

Man you've got to race one..

I've raced all kinds of cars from Z06s to modded Supras but the funnest by FAR was against a modded '03 Cobra. Hearing that supercharger scream right by your ears is the shizniot. It happens too fast though The faster your car gets, the quicker the races are over...unless its a close race and you go from a dig to 120+...even then its like a 10 seconds or so deal from the time you both go...

The cars do sound beautifull. That was the second one I've raced, and second I've beaten. However the first one I raced was on my two wheeler and wasnt as much fun. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to mod up the camaro or wait a year and trade for a cobra... lifes a bitch aint it?

btw my mods are a lid and catback. I've got a set of QTP lts w/q-tec y-pipe scheduled for install after I get a pass with the car as she is now. After a pass or two with the LTs I'll have a 35-3800 stall for her.

 

Ahh those are some damn awesome pictures.. All the cobras ive seen around are like 60+ men who dont ever want to play around... Ill get my chance...

 

there's a guy at school whose dad bought him a 04 cobra and he put bassani exhaust on it. the car sounds sweet as hell. anyway he was behind me on the entrance ramp both of us slowed to about 35 (no traffic) three honks. held it to about 95 and had almost 3 cars on him. btw this was before i had headers and ory.

 

ah man that would be so awesome to just be given an 04 cobra like that... haha.. but thats awesome you took him by 3 cars

 

Yea, my friend is 18 and so am I, nice to have such sweet cars at a young age. We are very lucky!

 

I didnt get mine till 21 lol.....Im kindof glad I did though...makes it that much sweeter

cool...i got mine at 19 and i just turned 20 last month....yea u get alot looks....BTW those are sweet rides....man im a car guy at heart i dont bash stangs...(if worthy ) but for real these cars are just amazing

 

The shifter in the Cobra's SUCKS! I can believe a new driver would shift slow with the cluuunk---cluuuuunk of those shifters. I think I twisted mine cause I can hardly get into 5th from 6th anymore but 4th to 5th is fine.

 

This happened to my with my 99 trans am. it turned out to be a bad synchro. that is the day my extended aftermarket warrenty paid itself off.

 

also, nice kill, KCamaro! I beat some older dude in his cobra with my TA when he kept bouncing off the rev limiter. he had his wife in the car too. and i had my dad in mine. it was pretty funny.
